Now how do you get a photo like that?
I used a Cannon T1i at the Montreal Auto Show. This picture was taken about 5-7 years ago I remember like it was yesterday... The showroom floor was very crowded and hot (normally, I only go on press day for photos). I was frustrated because my 2-year-old son was crying and throwing a tantrum. My wife took him and gave me a few minutes to set up my tripod and snap some shots before cutting the car show short.

This is the only shot I had time to take, of the Chally (shot in full manual mode). I did some very light post processing in photoshop to darken the background a little more and lighten up the car slightly, but I didn`t play with the colors hue or saturation (didn`t even crop or straighten the photo).

Honestly, the shot came out so great not because of my camera or the tripod. It was mostly the right lighting (car shows a great for that) and the right settings in manual mode (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, focus, lens, etc.).

If you`re serious about taking good pictures check out the photography posts in forums even, I had some tips to learn (e.g. using a flash to get the wheel wells to show) and pick up an SLR-Camera (used they are a great deal).

    Good luck Shawn!

Thanks 4u2, I`ve never used a SLR but we bought my son a T3i a few years ago.
I`ll have to take a better look at it. I was thinking of buying him a lens for Xmas that benefits taking car shots.

I`m a big fan of the 50mm 1.8f (EF) prime lens, it`s cheap (~$75) and takes really clear shots (low noise, lets lots of light in), but it`s not the best for car photos. If anything get him a tripod and a IR remote for the camera, maybe a nice flash as the stock lens kit is fine for automobile photography.

T3i is a great camera to start with, he`s lucky!
