I think that would be cool. I`m up for it anywhere. How bout Dallas? I think that`s a good halfway point in the country that has good enough weather to get something like this done.

Problem is SEMA was just this past November (its usually held the 1st week of Nov) and is "trade members only" and not open to the public.

I proposed an Autopia Meet at SEMA and got very little response.

hmm... if our affiliation with Autopia could potentially get us in at SEMA, that would be ideal- all the stuff at SEMA deals directly with what autopia is all about! Personally I think this should be looked into more seriously for next year

No, it can`t but that doesn`t mean we can`t get it. I`ll put it this way: I do not and have never worked in the Automotive Industry but I`ve gone to several SEMA shows. It can be done.

The real decision will be - - do we want to organize a convention or seminar as NYD suggests? It would be an event where detailing would be the focus and all activities would be related to detailing.

    - OR -

Do we just want to "get together" with other Autopians and party? SEMA is an event which can serve as a magnet to attract many people. It would not be a detailers convention per se but it would appeal to a broad base of Autopians as there is a lot to see and do in Vegas.

Just more stuff to think about...... please consider and comment.

    PARTY!!!:xyxthumbs

Great idea to have a detailing convention!

BradB`s garage would be the ideal location!!!!!

On the other hand, people may want to go to a nice vacation destination as bretfraz mentioned. I would certainly attend if it was the right time and could get time!

This wont happen for a while, but i was just wondering if people would be willling to get together.

Airfair or transportation would not be included, but hotel and all sessions would be along with some other perks.

I am really for this idea. The other car board i`m on a fair ammount (www.highaltitudeimports.com) get`s togeather every once in a while and it is tons of fun. The only thing is that`s mostly a Colorado club, so it`s easy. I would love to get togeather with some Autopians and just get lunch, or have a small car show or some seminar type class to teach other people. Just no other Autopians seem to live around here.

Thus i think this is a good idea. It will probably take a lot of planing and work, but with all the generous people here i`m sure people wouldn`t mind helping out.

ya I think if we could even do regional meets, it would be a start (other car clubs do hooters lunch meets, why not autopia?)

:up Dallas, more specifically, Arlington since it is right between Dallas and Fort Worth is perfect. Tons of hotels and restaurants, Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor water park, the inept Texas Rangers, etc.

BTW, Jngbrdman, you out in Dallas yet? If so, give me a call. Number is on my website or PM for my cell number.

I`m out there every now and then. I go through Blue Bell withdrawls every now and then and have to make a run for the border. lol I`ll be down there to give you some competition soon though. I`ll let you know the next time we go down there. I`m in need of a good weekend trip to the Big D. :up

I think Dallas would be the perfect place to do it. It is a Hub for a couple airlines so its easy to get there. Its just about as far from the east coast as it is from the west coast. There are more than enough places to do something like this at and we have Scott down there to help us coordinate things. I think it would be a good place.

There is so much potential business in this area we`d never overlap each other. I turn away business every week because I am booked solid.

We can have a national autopia meet any weekend except the third weekend in June because I`ll be at the national o-t.net meet for the 3rd straight year.

I`m bringing this post back from the dead!!! lol

Ever thought about having a convention (which is a steller idea) on the east coast? It`s so pretty here. A majority of people on here are not teenagers and might like a quaint little place to have it?

Shepherdstown WV is very historical, has lots of small little shops all along the town, and has some very nice places to eat and stay. Matter of fact, there is the Clarion Hotel. It`s where President Clinton, the guy before Ariel Sharon, and also Yasser Arafat came to have talks. Also, the college there has hosted the Washington Wizards numerous times. Shepherdstown is in the eastern panhandle of WV, boarding MD and VA.

Sounds good to me, but a lot depends on the when and where logistics.
