Hope you guys aren`t saying you`re going to stop posting here....
Very true, this site has been quite dead of late. So here`s hoping these changes bring it back to life! I post both here and on AGO, and I don`t plan on that changing any time soon as both places have their benefits.

IMO what has taken place here today, is here to stay regardless of what any of us visitors think. The real story will be told in the coming weeks / months of those, that either decide to stay or leave.
Personally I`m on the fence post today, and will remain that way while I watch it unfolds. Big business doesn`t always equate to better business. I`m going to keep an open mind about the new owners, but can`t say that I don`t have some very deep rooted opinions

I think my post was not worded the best because I know DC has always had a business section what I was saying is their are more posts about running a business and less about actual detailing.
This makes this forum less desirable to many people thats all I`m saying.
I`m willing to give the new people I try but the first time a post is deleted because someone did not like a product sold by AG or a post is deleted because it speaks favorable of a product that is not sold by Ag that will start a mass evacuation of members.
I guess this would be a good place to say I have nothing against AG I buy ALL of my supplies from them just not sure them owning DC is going to be the best thing.
I completely understand where you`re coming from, and actually agree with you, 100%.
Let`s just not forget that Autogeek won`t be affiliated with this forum. We`re all under the PBMA umbrella, but I`ll be your guy. I want this forum to benefit just as much as everyone else here.
JOHN I`m glad to hear this DC has always been different not the biggest but the best.
We have a bunch of excellent detailers here and they are willing to help newbies.
One other thing that makes DC so great is we have the best moderator on the internet Ole GH does an outstanding job.
If I could just talk him out of them MUDSTAINS and into a real car.
I`m relatively new here. I listen more than I post. Detailing to me is keeping my two cars looking their best at all times, preserving their value and giving me the satisfaction that comes from the compliments of neighbors and coworkers.
To those of you who offer constructive advice here, you are heard. We may not always post a thank you, but we are listening and you are teaching, advising, etc. Thank you for your time. I appreciate it.
To the vendors here. What can we say besides, thank you! They do more than promote products or give sales pitches. They "help" people make a good decision based on their needs. I appreciate all you do. Thanks for your time and wisdom.
Regarding business or marketing ideas: Did you notice the helpful advice that Mike Phillips gave to the new detailer seeking a name? Some new business people actually pay for that kind of advice. Here at DC, it was free, not only to him, but to all who visit. It may not affect us directly, but it does increase the good reputation of DC.
I believe a forum is the personality of the forum members. From what I have witnessed here, this forum may not be the biggest of all forums, but it sure has some quality people. That`s what it`s all about, people.
Welcome John! I believe you have inherited one of the best auto detailing forums on the internet.

I hope my very short comment/agreement was not taken wrong. Positive change is good. I would just hate to see the "environment" that brought me here change.
This site has a great balance of pros, serious hobbyists, and just people who like to take care of their car. Everyones opinion on subjects is taken or disregarded with respect. There is not the "back dooring" I have seen on other sites.
This is the only detail site I post to really. If I see something or hear something elsewhere this is my go to for debate or answers. I value everyones opinion who comments. The reponses to peoples questions are not based on a bunch of hype which happens elsewhere. If something is wrong someone steps in to clarify with more information. It is what makes Detail City what it is.
This is what I don`t want to change.
Welcome John,
I look foward to what you can do to make this site even better. It sounds as though you have an intrest in what everyones concerns are.
One day I`ll get to do my own car.

HMMM!!!!( That means Randal is thinking). My opinion at this time. HMMM!!! I dont mind the forum being owned by PBMA, as a sister/cousin to AGO, BUT!!!!!! I dont care for being connected to or under Autopia. Theres a reason why most are here and NOT there. If I wanted stuff from there Id go there. But I just dont! As for AG, if Steve doesnt have what I want I go to AG. AG/PBMA owning DC doesnt bother or surprise me. Maybe would have been better if the Autopia name/usage had not been brought up. But then Im just an IOWA Farmer and dont know anything.
It may be time to just go to Poorboys forum and use another DC for more info/discussion. HMMM!!! Ill see and it seems others will too.
Hey Randall, just want to clarify, PBMA is the umbrella that Autogeek.net and Autopia-Carcare.com are under, but they are two seperate entities.
You`ve been here a long time and I appreciate and respect your input. This is the type of feedback we like to hear so we can clear up and confusion.
From reading your post, seems like you may be mistaking Autopia names here. www.Autopia-CarCare (which is what we are) and Autopia.org are completely unrelated. From what I understand, that is a separate discussion forum, that we or PBMA have no connection or ties with.
I hope that clears up confusion and I hope you continue to stick around. Please feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.
I`m just gonna throw this out there, not coming from a position of being "in the know" `cause I`m not just coming from a position of being around for a while. Change and the unkown it brings along is often uncomfortable and sometimes inconvenient, but it can also be exciting. Sometimes change is for the better, sometimes for worse, and sometimes just different. I`m just guessing here, but none of us know what this change will bring to DC, probably not even John. I think all of us hope for the best possible outcome. It seems that the prudent course of action would be for us all to continue our course until such time that John tells us that a new course has been set.
For those who have bad feelings about Autopia, please be reminded that Autopia is there and we are here. We have some crossover members (residents) but we have mostly managed to coexist and enjoy each other`s comaraderie.
I don`t (think) I know John, but I`m not packing up the household goods and looking for a new city in which to reside. It`s a new year, we have a new mayor, but we are the same City. Let`s be positive, hang in here as a community and see what the future holds.

John,
Its interesting that the name Autopia-Carcare was used, when its not affiliated with the Autopia forum web site. Seems confusing to me and I would bet a lot others.
Autopia is close to a brand name on the net for its forums. I`m glad that you cleared that up, because I too like Randal was thinking it was one in the same.
