Any IT guys out there have ideas on this one?
    Hi Dwayne,

No, this is the only site that it happens to me on. That’s what is strange.

After looking into it more closely I think I have found a pattern to it. I have noticed that after logging in, if I immediately click on a thread to open it, that page will load quickly and if I immediately hit the back button to go back to the previous page, the previous page will immediately load back up again. However, if I open the same thread and spend more than like 10-15 seconds on that page and then hit the back button to go back to the previous page, I will get that approx. 4 – 5 second delay before the previous page starts to load again. I don’t know what it could be. It’s almost like something goes idle and has to start back up and start thinking again before it will open the next page if I stay on one page for more than 10 – 15 seconds. Definitely weird.

Re: Please give me some feedback

I like the diversity of the site. We seem to have a fairly diverse membership. We have the hobbyists, people ranging from those completely new to the idea of maintaining the appearance of their own vehicles to those seasoned vets who have been primping (no, not pimping) their rides for decades. We have pros, those in fixed locations and those who are mobile. We have pros who work for days on a customers` vehicle to those who manage to maintain the fleets of major corporations. Through the discussions and experiences of all of these different folks we all can be exposed to some new and some not so new techniques and processes. And we can`t talk about diversity without talking about all of the different products people use, misuse and possibly even abuse. DC provides an open forum to talk about just about any product you want to, and boy have we over the years. We cover the OTC products, the boutique products, the bulk products. Honestly want to know about product X? Ask, there is probably someone here that has used it or is using it now.

    Observations and comments:

Openness - The ultimate test of openness is allowing the discussion of certain brands like those Kemical Guys. It does not look like DC is especially heavily moderated (posts get axed except in vendor specific areas).

Newbie friendliness - you see people joining but not many seem to post much after that. Of course this is common in many forums. I do not think contests generally attract long term posters. I have seen several get chased off because they did not behave like the norm by annoying members in various ways or getting mad and leaving. Some do arrive with some brand preferences that comes across as spamming. I would avoid self-appointed posse`s that try to dictate rules beyond the forum moderator.

Popular threads - It looks like non-detailing threads (guns, politics, toyota) seem to have the most postings. Why?

Competition - I was not a member in the good old days at DC but there seems to be a lot more competition these days. Forum regulars at various new forums seem to be people who left one place due to rules on openness, moderating, etc. It is annoying when these forums spend a lot of time bashing other forums or personalities related to the forums.

Chat room - I think it is a good idea. I noticed another site had special guests (product makers) to answer questions.

    Good luck.

with the chat system we use.. if you click the save button it saves ALL of the chat into a HTML or at least it gives a screen that you can copy and save to a document.. if we have something like a meeting every month you could make a post with a link to the meeting "minutes" if you will

Claying does not mean "High end". It means quality/caring. So would actually learning a trade instead of "Hey I can wash and wax a car, so I`ma gonna be a detailer."

This is not a biggie, but is it possible to add a "Today`s Posts" button that is visible when you are not logged in?

Re: Please give me some feedback

Any chance we could ever get an organized trading forum up again? I have some things I will never use in a lifetime, and some things I`d like to sample. I`d rather help someone out with a product I`ve tried already than let it sit on the shelf, and if I can trade for it (even for samples and such) that`s even better. I don`t like hitting up the other forums too much for trading, since I don`t really post much at the other sites. Guess I feel like an outsider or something.

Re: Please give me some feedback

I have a suggestion: Maybe make a sub forum, or one of the already existing forums in the business section locked. Only viewable to those who actually have a detailing business. I know anyone can say they have one, but make it to where information has to be filled out and viewed by you or a mod? Maybe make a call to the business phone to check to see if it`s legit.
The reason you ask? Well, some detailers do not want customers to see what they type, their marketing strategies, their "horror" stories, etc....

Most use their business names as screen names, and it`s easy to find stuff on forums with a search in google or such. I`m not saying the whole thing, but maybe make one that is just locked for business owners to discuss anything business related, from taxes dead-beat clients. maybe password protected? (but someone may spill the beans on the password)

    Just a suggestion.
(heck, I would even moderate it)

I second JP, new here, but no one, unless you`ve met them in person can tell what someone is all about. This sounds like if someone was to start listing abilities and work done an opportunity to cut people down. Could go on but have nothing to prove. I have found this site to be quite informative. Show your work, prove your point.

I have recently started viewing DC again. I had a spell at college where I wasn`t able to follow a good detailing regiment, but now I am able to plug in my PC and get to work and follow all of the advice and reviews on the site. I would like to have some kind of DC merchandise. I`d wear the t-shirt all the time!

    Welcome Home Dwayne

I have always liked it here, have had fun and not so much fun, Every turn has it`s learning experience

I have been in the shadows here for some time and what grips me is LAZY people who want to respond to a post that has a photo in it and not take the time or consideration to not take out the duplicate photo this post would end up having the same photo 10 plus times, just to add a silly antidote. This is a P.I.A. it eats bandwidth and for some who still have a low level internet providers suffer from the true experience we have here, The ability to solve problems, teach and learn
