    Griots Random 6" Orbital issues

Hey guys, I recently bought a brand new Griot`s Random 6" orbital, and it arrived Thursday. Upon unboxing, I plugged the unit in at my apartment, and surprisingly I got nothing. I changed outlets, and the machine fired up. Fast forward to Friday, I come home (full time college student) and attempt to glaze my car, and the unit fires up, and I begin applying the glaze. After about a minute of having the machine running, I change the speed, and the unit shuts down, and hasn`t worked since. Without receiving any instructions about running the unit, I was wondering if I am doing something wrong in operating the machine. Granted, I`ve used my Porter Cable orbital many times without issues, and figured the Griot`s unit would run by just positioning the switch to the "on" position. Has anyone else had any problems with a Griot`s polisher? I`m thinking it`s a short somewhere.

Call the company tomorrow and explain what its doing. Those machines are covered by a lifetime warranty. Its definitely NOT normal. I`ve returned 2 or 3 of them and they have always replaced them no questions asked. They are a great company to deal with and won`t give you any grief over returning it. Call Griots directly. Don`t bother calling the company you purchased it from btw.

Were you using an extension cord on Friday? Try plugging it back into the wall outlet.

I was using an extension cord, however I switched to multiple wall outlets, however it did not work at any of those. I spoke with Griot`s on Friday, and they stated they would send a replacement unit if desired. I`m going to speak with Detailers Domain tomorrow morning to see about them replacing the unit, seeing that I purchased it from them. Thanks for the help guys!

Griots handles all of their returns directly. Detailers Domain will just tell you to call Griots.
