Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Did some piddling around yesterday on the GTI. Ever since owning it there was some seriously tough looking water spots that I figured wouldn`t come out after trying a couple different products over the years, they just remained. Shrugged it off as I`ll have to live with it. It recently had some more water spots pop up in a spot so I figured what the heck. After a pass of Griot`s Complete Compound on a microfiber pad the new and old water spots were gone. Huh, imagine that. Decided to do the whole hood. Looked good in the garage, so I pulled it out of the garage to see what "mess" it left as far as any holograming or something else. Again, to my amazement it finished off absolutely perfect... Don`t know what happened to the sun pic, but here`s a couple.

Letting the Collinite 845 set up:

    After wiping off the 845:

I`ll have to get a sun picture today, it looks pretty good for the first time in 3.5 years.

Finally got the daily driver done. 4th coating in 3 years...that`ll be about enough for this one. After 60k miles, front end and hood of this car is a rolling advertisement for PPF, totally battered.

Oh well, chips deserve to be shiny too. What did you do detailing wise today?

I finally got to use Cquartz UK 3.0 this weekend. My son`s friend bought a set of the critical Carpro products and we spend much of yesterday working on his 2017 GTI. Essence followed by Cquartz UK 3.0. Very pleased with the result, this newest version of Cquartz is a pleasure to work with.

    Nice work!

Our purchase of a new 2017 Accord a few years ago happened a little too fast, and I had not researched PPF. Three years later there lots of stone chips on the hood. If I every have it painted I will definitely research PPF and have it done ASAP.

The plus is still no swirls after 3 years of rinseless washes.

I think Honda paint is very chip-prone. Had a black `16 Subaru WRX that I drove 40k miles on same freeways and that was nowhere near as gooned up as this Honda.

It`s really kinda depressing how bad the front/hood of this car is. Oh well.

Yes! Acura is chip city as well. Luckily I got a lot of it repainted through a few minor bang ups. But even so, they are all over the front especially (other parts like roof aren’t bad).

After my normal wash Sunday morning, went back out in the evening as the sun was setting, and threw down another coat of TWHS Spray coating. So easy.

Yes it does. Here is a lesson for others. Don’t let your old man paint around the house with the garage door open.

Looks like I have some work to do to get this overspray off this one day old coating and start from scratch What did you do detailing wise today?.
