    Messin` with compounds.
Surprised by Adams, very nice but it seems like it flashes quickly.
Not surprised by GGs. Just a wee bit dusty.
Cutmax, might try again, was oily wipe off ??
Got the best all around feel from Jescar. Which was in between Adams & Cutmax for workability & wipe off.
PA just have to work it too long to break it down.
Gotta try the new BF Compound & Polish next.
    Used to be my favorite.

Maybe find something different than purple Foamed Wool before I do the whole truck

Gyeon Primer > Dodo Juice Blue Velvet Pro > Dodo Juice Purple Haze Pro. I think it worked.

How do you like the Jax Wax ceramic wax? A buddy uses the regular wax and Hawaii detail spray and loves it. Does it last? Ease of use? Thanks

Like it so far gives a nice gloss, slick finish, very easy to use 1 panel at a time, finish applying it on one direction by hand, hazes quick, easy to remove, prefer to put it on by hand. As far as durability it`s only been out maybe a month now so time will tell.

Lots of rain here this week which means my phone gets hit with postponements. Luckily I have plenty in the garage to keep me busy. And once the storms pass a surge of jobs will come.

You think you can do the car quicker with the Adams since the work time is shorter In your experience and opinion? Or have to add more cause you don’t have the results you want after the run time of the compound?

The fastest and most effective compounding combination I`ve used is CarPro Clear Cut on Lake Country Purple or Blue Wool paired with my Flex 3401. 3 basic passes and here are the results. Since switching over to Clear Cut I`ve saved countless hours. It`s awesome stuff and finishes out fantastic. Polishing as a result is minimal too so it really saves time on multiple levels.

    BEFORE:
Note the door in the before was done first so I am simply using the before of the fender as the shot here.

AFTER 3 Basic Passes: 1 with about 10-15lbs pressure, then the last two lightened up a bit. As you can see, the hazing left is minimal and IMO impressive for a compound on wool.

In the end the entire car turned out fantastic and I am so happy I tried the new product for how much time it`s been saving me.

Packing up for another mobile job.
I`ve had as many mobile jobs as drop offs this year. 2 and 2. Sure hope it picks up OR I get this promotion at work.

I am definitely packing too many things.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Now that winter is *finally* gone for good, figrd I`d peel off 14k hard, freeway miles of salt, brine, chemical deicer and general NE Ohio grime off the car yesterday and see how the coating underneath fared.

`Twas pretty much a Gyeon kinda day for the cleanup

    Pressure Rinse
    Gyeon Foam
    Pressure Rinse
    Bucket Wash with Gyeon Bathe
    Dry with Gyeon Silk Dryer
    Gyeon Tar
    Pressure Rinse
    Gyeon Foam
    Pressure Rinse
    Bucket Wash with Gyeon Bathe
    Dry with Gyeon Silk Dryer
    Gyeon Iron
    Pressure Rinse
    Gyeon Foam
    Pressure Rinse
    Bucket Wash with Gyeon Bathe
    Dry with Griots PFM

After being exposed, underlying coating is doing just fine so dropped some Kamikaze Infinity wax on it, topped with Overcoat this morning, should be good to go.

    Pluses:

    1. Twisted loop drying towels like Gyeon Silk Dryer and Griots PFM are very, very nice.

    2. Continue to like the Gyeon Smoothie wash mitts. A bit pricey, but nice.

    Minuses:

    1. Salt bouncing off black car WILL leave a mark/chip. Front end and some strikes on hood are unfortunate evidence of one of the worst winters, commuting wise, that I can ever remember. PPF certainly has its place...too late now.

    2. Found a few light scratches on trunk and passenger door handle, likely from careless loading of trunk and dangling jewelry/rings while opening passenger door.

Would easily polish out but now gotta decide if it`s worth the time to correct/re-coat trunk and passenger door to address those small areas. Coatings are great and all, but this illuminates the downside of them. Since coating on car is multi-layer, mutli-product deal that darkens the paint a bit, a simpler spot fix would not be practical/possible. Guess I`ll wait and see how long I can live with those 2 areas.

Nice to see that the coating held up well given the harsh usage this winter but it took a bit to uncover it.

On this car, I`m guessing I`ll get 2 years, 36k daily driver miles out of it before I re-do car next summer. Same coating on wife`s winter car, which sits outside April thru November but is only driven 6500 mostly non-freeway miles a year, will likely perform well for close 48 months.

Kinda reinforces how pointless time-based claims of LSP longevity ("It`s a 5 year coating!") are, in my mind anyway. FWIW, the coating `package` on our cars is noted as a "24-36 month" combo. Her summer car, always garaged, stored in winter, 6500 mostly sunny day, non freeway miles will probably last indefinitely, aside from any future need to correct/re coat isolated panels due to scratching, marring, etc.

I`m guessing I`ll ride the Kamikaze combo to 2 years, 36k miles on my daily, repolishing next summer, maybe touch up some chips and then decide what to do, LSP-wise. Dunno if it will be a full-on coating with an eye towards longevity AND looks or maybe something less intense with an eye towards repolishing lightly and reapplying ?something? each Spring.

18-20k miles yearly, 95% freeway, on a black car in NE Ohio is a tough nut to crack it seems if you`re somewhat OCD about appearance. Current approach is doing great given the circumstances but it`s just such a harsh world out there on the roads around here.

If you had a small polisher like a Rupes Nano you could easily spot correct those areas. Have done this myself with no issues to the surrounding coating.
