Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

The wife got a new job last week and has to be there by next Monday. She`s leaving Wednesday. Oh yeah, the job is in North Carolina and we`re in Kansas.

Anyway, I haven`t done what I wanted to to her truck and it`s still not done but I had to do something for now since I won`t be headed down for a few months.

Cleaned the engine with Purple Power degreaser and a Tampico spoke brush then two coats of Sonus Trim and Motor Kote. It`s not perfectly spotless but I only had a few hours. Then washed the outside with DUB by Meguiar`s Car Wash, IronX, clayed, IPA wipe, then Meguiar`s Ultimate Liquid Wax. Cleaned the trim with Mother`s Back to Black Cleaner. Cleaned the wheels with DUB Wheel Cleaner and the tires with Bleche-White and a final cleaning with the Turtle Wax tire cleaner before coating with Turtle Wax Endura-Shine Tire Coating.

My only complaint so far with the Turtle Wax kit is the applicator fell apart very quickly. Probably doesn`t help that my tires have pretty much no smooth surfaces, but oh well. It looks great now so we`ll see how it lasts.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

I detailed my entire silver 09 Jeep SRT8 and I did the interior like never before. For the interior used my new BHB`s to get into every nook and cranny along with; Meg`s Qik interior detail spray, pristine clean leather cleaner, stoners invisible glass, Meg`s D101 on the carpet stains, shop vac, and a new car smell air freshener (I like the smell). I finished off buy wiping the FK1000-P layered door jams with some UWW+ and they look great.

The day before I washed the outside with Meg’s hyper wash (first use) and I must say it’s better than any other soap I’ve used in my buckets (didn’t try it in the foam gun or cannon yet). I noticed this soap is much slicker (more slippery in the hand) than any other car soap I’ve tried to the point the mitt was slipping off my hand. The Jeep was in dire need of a wash after 2-3 weeks of dirt roads and Meg’s Hyper Wash was defiantly up to the task (I used 3oz per 4gal of water and I think that was too much). I also took the wheels off to detail the barrels. While I was at it I re-detailed my new suspension components (end links, sway bar, control arms, and shocks) and applied a 2nd layer of FK1000-p. I also investigate where I was rubbing from lowering and trimmed plastic splash guards in a few places to keep them from rubbing on the tires and where it was the upper control arm was hitting/rubbing. Then I changed the oil (0W40 Mobil 1 oil and finder) and took a sample for my Blackstone oil analysis (as proof if I ever sell the SRT). I also pressure washed my K&N CIA filter and loads of nasty dirt came off, then re-oiled it. While I was underneath inspected the undercarriage and decided not to wash off the old rustproofing grime and just gave it a quick pressure wash/rinse (as recommended by fellow Autopia`s).

Not only does my Jeep look as good as new it runs better with the clean air filter. I managed to cut a 3.8sec 0-60mph after changing the oil and cleaning the air filter!

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Finished off my week long project to correct the body shops shoddy polishing job.

Cg citrus red to get out all the blackhole i had to use to hold me over then
clay (didnt really need it but why not)

Bf src compound + Rupes green pad
-i dont know if its just me but my green rupes pad shreds foam worse than my hydrotech pads, dusts like crazy too.even with a sprits of polishing pad oil

Rupes diamond + rupes white pad
(This turned out to be the best combo after several two step tries)
    Both on my duetto
-only 3 deep scratches aroun the car stayed but probably only visible to us and not the normal eye

Pbl surface cleansing polish + ccs red hand applicator

Pbl paint coating (still using my v1 but nearing end of bottle-this is my fifth veh application)

Letting her cure in the garage but i did pull it out to check for high spots and found none.
Will put synergy x2 on it in the next coming evenings

Some 730pm shots for teasers until i post a full thread

    Its a 2009 btw

detailed a ford f150 for a neighbor`s son. wash, clay with opti eraser, griot`s all in one sealant followed up with an extra coat of griot`s sealant with my gg 6 da. this was with my newly replaced gg 6 da from griots. definitely a lot smoother than my 5yr old gg 6 and it has a ventilated backing plate. thank you Griot`s garage !
