Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

I`ve noticed my windshield is starting to not shed water like it had been. I had put CG`s Hydroslick on it back in late September, but with the onset of winter weather it was starting to fade....so I got home from work tonight and the boys were down at the grandparents until dark

Broke out the 3d glass cleaner

Wanted to give it a little scrub so I re purposed some CG`s V36 polish (I wasn`t impressed with it for paint at all...seems to be a normal consensus though) scrubbed the windshield with the V36, then IPA`d it down and coated it with the Hydroslick

When I had it on this fall I barely ever had to use my wipers...I do know from a lot of videos I have watched it doesn`t fair well with chemicals so I`m not surprised that using the washer fluid more in the past few weeks because of some PA wintery mixes it started to breakdown from the washer fluid...but I got it fairly cheap from G one time when there was a sale and I had a 25% off code. I only use 4 pea sized drops on each half of the window so the bottle will last me for a good while.

Should be good to go for a few more months, but calling for snow this weekend so I`ll see if it lasts or is negatively affected soon

Polish glass with Griots fine glass polish. Funny how i thought my glass was relatively goid shape. Rheir was a film on their that was pretty thick that i did not notice till after polishing. You could see it in places you missed.

After polishing though every nick, scratch, and chip stuck out like a sore thumb.

Coated with griots glass sealant. Have Gtechniq glass coating but want to go over with ceriglass i bought to smooth out a coupl chips

If you call 37 decent? But was dying to get outside and knock off a few weeks of abuse on the truck. Did a proper wash/interior this afternoon. Found out that 100` HF hose was leaking at a fitting already! Really? Took it back and got my cash back. I`ll get something better later.

Getting reacquainted with my Detailing equipment, and beginning to assess my new car’s detail needs.

Some hand held lights to help, a Fenix and Scangrip ll.

This baby I really missed, a 100w led flood light.

    Washed her first

The tires definitely have something on them from the dealership.

My Bigboi mini, he flips over. I’ll have to figure out what to do with him ....

Every square inch of my new car has light spider webs,
marred, and generally swirled to S##t !

Looks like some time off work, to Detail.
That paint job will look fantastic when polished out !!

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Had a beautiful day today here in Central PA so I got out all the good and washed our 2 vehicles today

    The Fusion
Washed with Adams Coat and Wash, put on first coat of Gyeon Wet Coat, dried with Beadmaker. Gyeon tire for the tires.

I really think I’m going to jump on the Adams BoGo and pick up some more of this coat and wash.

Now the Equinox Beater DD. Nothing to look at, but it’s clean.
CG Extreme Body wash and wax. Beadmaker to dry and CarPro Perl for the tires

All in all a good day.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

32 here today. Was calm but not 2bm time yet, nowhere for water to go as it’s ice and 12” of snow everywhere but the driveway. So took wife’s burb and my work truck to coin op and got them clean and put 303 touch less sealant on wife’s and finished bottle halfway around mine and then finished it off with hydro blue. I will say the hydro blue has more gloss and slickness but doesn’t last like the 303. Got almost 6 months last year out of the 303 and only topped with something 1 time and it was bread maker so not sure that counts

What did you do detailing wise today?

Worked on my new car wheels, 19” wide sport tires.
I know the dealership had something on the tires,
    that I’d have to remove.

    We have lift off...

    I started with Tuf Shine

The browning stopped after 3 or 4 times scrubbed.

But, the product from the dealership was still there in spots. So Tarminator with a scratch pad and MF wipe off.

    Better, I thought..

I’m trying to use higher end products on this vehicle, so to clean the wheels I used

Finished with a wash of CGs Diablo, wheel and tires.
New MF woolies, the knuckle guard is dumb. I removed it. Got in the way more then anything.
Also used the CGs as a clay towel lube that I lightly ran over the wheels.

I thought the PA wasn’t working even though I could see the brake disk was purple.

I had a sample of this to compare

I’m good. Time to dry her and add the coatings.

I really liked the wheel coating. My first. Will upgrade now that I’ve tried with something that is longevity challenged.

WG. Paintprep. wipe down of the wheels.
PBL, IGL green removal towels, 9” yellow 500gsm. AMZ towels. GTech. AP2 applicator (all were outstanding).

Last and the most frustrating. The tire coating.

I must not have removed all of the previous products.
The coating was very blotchy ! After all that work, to have the last step basically fail !
I was too upset and didn’t get a picture.
    I mean I was Blazin’ up !!

Then I remembered I still had a half bottle of
    GYEON TIRE,
so down went one very thick layer. No wipe off.
It saved me ! Covered all the unevenness, and will live to fight another day !

    Thanks for lookin’

For tire coatings it was recommended i think by Nick for Mckee’s to clean wheels and put nothing on for a month if its had something in it. You have to clean till no browning (took me 6 times). Would recommend tuf shine, Mckees T&R rejuvenator or what i used 303 T&R.

If I remember correctly you have a Mighty mini? If so hit the tires with that and ine of the above or diluted APC to remove. Let them breath for a month and redo cleaning process and apply.

    HI Coatings=crack

Wow a month !? Makes sense. I have been letting my SUV tires go with just cleaning, no protection. I think I`ll try again with the PBL tire coat on the SUV.
I do like the Mckees T&R, I`ll probably pick up the 303 T&R tho. Thanks.

I did try the Mighty mini and the brush I have was a bit big for the thin wall on these tires, I couldn`t keep it on the rubber only and avoid the wheels.
I`ll look for a smaller diameter brush head. Maybe something to protect the wheels while I scrub the tires.

Now the DD SUV tires the Mighty will just rock ! I know the Gyeon tire wears off fast on the DD tires, so a coating would be a better option.

Thanks again, you`ve helped me understand more of what I was looking at.
