Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Another shot at stripping the wax and sealant from my car.

I’m using an alkaline soap with a PH of 10.

3 ozs. In 1gal. of distilled.
(Too thick for this type of dispenser )

Sure foams up nice, smells good.

Starting to make a dent. After a hand wash.
Sheesh I must have a lot of wax on this GQ !

The trunk and roof are where I tested most of my waxes.

So next weekend it will be an alkaline foam & wash,
GTech. W6 iron remover, followed by an acidic
foam & wash. Repeat acidic if necessary.

    SHEESH !

Mary, have you tried the Griot`s Garage foaming surface prep?

I`ve had pretty good success with that however, I`m not sure I`ve had to take off as many layers as you.

3D super presoak works awesome as well. So much so i didn’t fill the wheel bucket fast enough and the bottom got distorted from less than 1oz of soap. Mind you it sat long enough to fill wash and rinse buckets up so maybe 3-5 min

Mary - what about Poorboy`s strip down? (might have already tried it).

I have had accidental success reducing / removing my sealant with too-strong a mix of Bug Squash. Not what I wanted to do, but uh....worked great!

Did some waterspout removal on this Audi A7 I polished and detailed a year ago. It got hit by sprinklers and calcium made hard water spots on the hood on the side of the car

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Decided to finally apply Turtle Wax SNS to my entire car.

    Step 1:
I began the entire process with testing pH`s of different solutions of Purple Power Boat & RV in the foam canon. Bottle of 2oz of PPBRV surprisingly produced a pH of 7 of foam on the car. Bottle solution of 4oz PPBRV w/rest water resulted in a pH of between 8-9, I think I may be just hit the suds in the bottle with the pH test strip, this solution resulted in a foam pH of 7 on the paint. Adding one ounce of Nextzett W99 pushed the solution pH to 12, the pH of the foam out of the foam gun was 10, I think. Basically (no pun intended), pH, is the measurement of the hydrogen ion concentration within solution. It is essentially an indicator that lets one figure out the acidity or alkalinity of a solution, in detailing specific application it can show us *a relative strength* of a chemical that we are using, relative to water. My traditional foam soaks for a strong prewash have typically been a max of three ounces of PPBV in the PF22, and for maintenance wash, 2oz of CGHD. Neither have the cleaning power of my 4oz PPBV to 1oz Nextzett W99 to rest H20. It is amazing how clean the car came without touching the vehicle..... Rinsed.

    Step 2:
Application of Eagle One Plasticoat Wheel Cleaner to the entire car, it has only been four months since I did my last iron decon. The building I work in is located 40m from a set of train tracks, my car sits in between the train tracks and the building. There has also been work on the track and roadway crossing, which happens be about 40m from my car, the crossing work has impeded the flow of traffic, every one riding their brakes through the construction zone, and the building I work in has been undergoing renovations since the first of May. Pictured is a serious amount of fallout for four months, I normally find that much fallout once every nine months.... Rinsed.

    Step 3:
Sprayed car down with Distilled White Vinegar to help remove light water spots. Rinsed.

    Step 4:
Rinsless washed the car with ONR and used OPT Paint Prep as a drying aid. I have been playing around with different OPT products, and I am really digging the synergy.

    Step 5:
Application of TW SNS to all painted surfaces and used TW Ice Spray Wax to help mitigate any left over SNS streaks.

Yesterday, I pulled out my trusted Sun Joe SPX 3000. This is the only time I use the Sun Joe foam cannon. Then foamed/ Soft washed my house.

75/25 water and bleach plus a small squirt of dawn.

My wax and sealant battle continues...
After 2 weeks in the underground garage

This time I know I made a dent in some layers of protection
because the towels started to grab when drying.

    I used Foam9 w/ 1gal. Distilled
    6oz. OGs decon. soap
    2oz. Purple power.

Foamed and rinsed, left over mixture I poured into
2 gals. in a Bucket to hand wash. Rinsed again.

Put 3oz. of CGs Citrus wash in 1.5 IK foamer w/distilled.
Lightly foamed her down, then used a mit to spread it across paint. Rinsed for 10 mins. easy.

She is almost squeaky, so next I can start removing the wax from the trim, use iron remover decon.
    Then clay mit.

If you want a more aggressive method, a Mineral Spirits wipe down can do wonders to kill waxes and sealants. Sometimes a wax or sealant can require multiple Mineral Spirits wipe downs. I’d wash the vehicle with a Decon wash and follow up with MS as a drying aid.

    Wow Thanks.
I am trying to use up some of the products I have (too much stuff), happened to find the bottle of Purple power w/ my Arsenal.

I`m wondering though, how MS would work for the Trim W/ the bottle of Mckee`s 37 wax removal spray I just found ?
I have ground in wax on the lower areas. Plus I have 2 or 3 small stiff brushes to try.
