Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Started on the wife`s CR-V with a wash, decon, clay, and spot corrections hoping to put some Gloss-Coat on it tomorrow after I apply Paint Prep. Also scrubbed the tires with Tuf Shine tire cleaner so I can also put Tuf Shine on the tires tomorrow....I used it last year and the tires went well over six months looking nice. I was very glad to see the yellow Optimum Opti-Clay available again. I had stocked up on some yellow clay when Clay Magic made it illegal to sell in the U.S., but my stash was almost depleted.

Edit: just finished Paint Prep (cleaning), the Gloss-Coat, a quick application of Opti-Seal to protect it, and the Tuf Shine on the tires. That`s the first coating I have applied and I didn`t have any issues, but next time I think I`ll try a foam pad and suede applicator instead of the blue foam pad. The car looks great, Gloss-Coat really makes the white paint (with a hint of pearl) look good.

Well, Spring detail is DONE!! I did things earlier as not to have so much to do at once this year. I HATE working in the sun, but it is what it is. Good decon wash with Megs wash plus. I did really like this product. It left a really nice clean slate. Wheels got hydro blue. Paint got McKees 37 10 min. paint sealant. This product really produced! Very easy. Grab a MF applicator. 1-2 spritzes per panel. Wipe. DONE. Flashes very quickly. Left a deep gloss shine. Very impressive. I did this inside the garage. No beauty shots as I was tired when finished. But will get some soon.

Finally time to clean my own car, 15 Dodge Challenger Scat Pack. Rinse, foam, 2 bucket, dry. Gyeon tar, 2 bucket wash, dry. I think it definitely helped clean the car up and refresh the Kamikaze ISM, topped with over coat. Sorry no pictures, wasn`t thinking about it.

I was bored an decided to make Merlin`s magical elixir since I had the supplies, nice QD, slick finish, adding nice gloss. Just something else to try.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

One more try with some new to me compounds. Trying to find a way to get at the deeper swirls.
Nanoskin`s Speed Cut was a pleasant surprise. Very speedy .
Liked the open time, even after I worked it awhile it was very easy to wipe off. A keeper.
WGs Uber Compound another nice one, more oily though, reminded me of Jescar.
Gave GGs another shot, still up in the air, be trying again.

The one thing I did figure out is my Rupes Mini stalls with Wool or MF,
practically dragged it over a slightly curved area, and that is where the swirls are,
because my machine for testing was not reaching them properly !
So it`s not my compounds or pads but my machine.
I was looking into a 21mm but I`m convinced a Forced Rotation is the missing
puzzle piece, maybe replace the Rupes Mini as well

Starting to really like this Plasma Coat, like a layer of glass !

Took this little guy out for a try, light and easier to carry around for up close inspection. Plus it works better with the
    magnet GG sells

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Decided the GTI needed a little love today. And here you thought all I was here was for posting in the Hot Tub or something.

Removed the front and rear tag to get at everything better. Surprised at all the much on the front tag!

Because the internet goes crazy over foam shots for some reason...

Next was decon. I`ve used clay for years, but decided to use something different. Bought a Nanoskin fine grade AutoScrub sponge. Holy cow where has this thing been all my life!? I cut my clay time by over half! Fired up the compressor and blew out all the nooks and crannies before doing some taping.

Got out the old GG6 and a CCS Gray pad using Poorboy`s Pro Polish. Was I after perfection? Oh Hell no, there`s some waterspots in the hood that are so deep only a wetsand would knock them out. I was after a little gloss enhancement. It`s a daily driver-ish that will see some abuse.

That metallic flake though... (hah, my yellow tape and the red accent strip, along with the black grilled is the German flag, on a German car. Thank you, I`ll be here all night!)

So the camera on my phone is uh, not as good as I`d like, but you get the picture (Heh, get it?)

Topped with Poorboy`s EX-P. I remembered that I had a pad for applying waxes and glazes, so for the first time ever I used the GG6 to apply the sealant. Why in the heck didn`t I do that before!? Not only was it faster, it was completely even coating no matter how much I applied to the pad.

Only picture I could get. The sun refused to come out...

I wanted to make a separate thread, but the camera refused to co-operate with me.

Had to pull out the beast today

Edit:I ended up not using rotary cause it didn`t do that much of a difference so ended up using bf src compound v1 on euro fiber by b&s and it worked the best

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

In the middle of quite an intensive detail on a 160k+ mile S-Class. Normal decon, one day for the interior, and have been on the exterior since late Tuesday. Entire car was cut with FCC on Meg`s MF CD, one pass at a time as the ambient temperature was consistently around 86F in the shop. This is the cars first ever correction, so there is CC to play with. After playing around with many combo`s of products and techniques to finish at this level, I decided to utilize the BOSS Yellow pad, four passes, clean pad, apply more product to pad and finish with two more passes at speed 6 w/ G15. Not perfection, but it will suffice.

BTW, the car is Mercedes 040 Black.

Washed the week old dust off my car.

Ran my newly modified Ryobi cordless buffer. Sure did run smooth and quiet. So proud !

And after waxing, of course it began to rain.

After she had open heart surgery, it was time to clean her up. Not too bad for 62k miles, performed a one step with Menzerna 3 in 1, and brought the interior up to a level 8.

    The Aston is next.
