Hopefully gonna give it a try this weekend, anything `quirky` about the new Mohs or Skin application?

May as well give the Primer Polish a go as well; did you start with Syncro right after primer (w Prep wipedown) or wait 24hrs after Primer and skip the Prep wipedown?

Will be interested to see how this performs...

I wonder if there`s any difference in performance if you immediately wipe with a prep after Primer v. waiting 24 hours.

I don`t like the idea of waiting or having to wait for the primer to "cure" personally.

Because of the holidays and having many things to do, it sat for 24 hours if not a little more. I still gave it a very light prep wipe to mostly remove any light dust rather than using a dry towel. Was not necessary.

Also due to the holiday distractions, each coat of Mohs sat overnight before applying Skin.

Per the instruction booklet that comes with it, Mohs can be layered at a minimum of 1 hour and skin at a minimum of 4 hours. So keep that in mind. Also stated that a minimum of 2 coats of Mohs is recommended with a max of 3 coats.

Both are straight forward to use. I don`t know how long it is recommended to wipe of the previous Mohs but this new one it is recommended between 10-30 seconds. For Skin it is apply and wipe off immediately. Really easy to use.

I pulled this from the DI Ask a Pro Blog Write up from Jeff at Gyeon.

The base layer of SiO2 will also increase the durability of the coating applied over it. More often than not I do not have a 24 hour window between Primer and coating so I still conduct the prep wipe procedure. You want to wait at least 15 mins from the completion of Primer before Prep to allow the base layer of SiO2 to dry enough to not be affected by Prep.

There is no need to wait 24 hours. That is completely optional. It has the same concept as Essence for softer paints and the possibility of a prep wipe prior to coating causing marring. Corey mentioned the same thing on an obsessed garage video with Essence and letting it sit for 24 hours prior to coating a vehicle with soft paint. Here`s another thing. Q2 Primer has no fillers like Essence.

There is a great write up on DI from Jeff of Gyeon on how to use it.

The products main design function is to aid in finishing down very soft and finicky paints and prep them for coating. It allows you to touch the paints surface one less time, because if you wait at least 24 hours between Primer and your coating application, you can skip the Prep wipe stage. Primer is water based, so all of the lubricants in the product that aid in polishing will evaporate out fully in 24 hours, leaving you a dry base layer of SiO2 on which you can install your coating. If you have to coat under 24 hours from the time you complete Primer, then prep is still required.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Last detailing project before I go back to work next week. Those 3 weeks off sure went by quick.

Chemically and mechanically decontaminated the wheels to polish and re-coat.

Ironx doing it`s thing. Noticed the rear wheels had more iron contamination than the fronts.

Gave the wheels a light polish to remove the previous coating. McKee`s fast polish is pretty nice.

Tires cleaned with Tuf Shine tire cleaner to remove the previous McKee`s tire coating in prep to use the new formula.

Gave the wheels a prep wipe with panel wipe and laid down a base layer of GTechniq C5 Wheel Armour. A couple hours later I put two coats of Exo V3 30 mins apart. Needed to just use it since my CSL went bad that I was planning to use with it. C5 was grabby and Exo added slickness.

    Wheels and a POWER WASH.
Scrub tires w/Tuff shine, then foamed w/ foam pump & Diablo

    Pressure foamed
Grape scent Maxi ll is great, may have used too much
Glissante didn`t matter how strong a mix, but used it for the wax, plus would be topped w/ Rapidwaxx for some synergy.
    Blasted WW with angle nozzle
Tires got Gyeon tire, put it on thick, did my wheels w/ Mc37 Wheel glaze
then wiped the tires off, it wouldn`t wipe off.
Used 2 small LC foam sticks to Glaze barrels, one to apply one to remove.
New Eagle 600s are fantastic, super plush

Very happy with the pressure washer, just like a coin op. but with attachments, fixtures and time.

PBs spray and wipe, then did the Blue Velvet topped w/ Purple Haze.
Blue velvet you gotta really work it or you don`t get full coverage,
    plus it stained my vinyl.
Purple Haze was waaay better, also I wiped the stained vinyl
    and Haze removed it.

I want to say Thank you to all on this forum, without the info I found here and all the great products. My vehicles would not look this good.
I would not have been so successful . Would not have had a clue.
    So THANK YOU !

WOW! The Gyeon tire was put on thick! Next time you will know it only takes a few drops on a foam applicator. You will love the look and durability of it Mary. Next several washes you will only need soap and water to clean the tires.
