Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

2016 Alpine White BMW 430i with around 6000K miles on it. Had not been washed/ detailed since November. Lots of tar and road grime. Owner was desperate to have it cleaned up before today as they had family in from out of time so I used my WFH day yesterday to get it done hehe.

Total time for both exterior and interior was about 7 hours. It really was in bad shape when it came in and I had to clay areas 2 or 3 times to remove as much as I could without inducing marring since I was not doing any polishing. Removed a lot of left over adhesive that was previously missed by others.

    Products used:
    CarPro Reset
    PBs Foam and Soak
Gyeon Mitt, Silk Dryer/ PFM, and other assorted MFs
    Iron X / Tar X
Blackfire Poly Clay/ Nano Skin Glide
CarPro Reload LSP/ Optimum Spray Wax as a topper
Mckees 37 fast metal polish on exhause
Wheels - AngelWax Bilberry Wheel Cleaner, Megs Degreaser, various brushes and sealed with Hydro 2
Engine - Megs Degreaser, APC, various brushes and dressed with 303 aerospace
Interior - Mckees QID, Megs APC 4:1, PERL, various brushes

    A few pictures:

I polished up the piano black B pillars as well because the swirls here just get to me.

    I learned a few things:
Need to dial in my process a bit more and be more organized so I am not wasting time running around more so on these day turn around for bigger jobs. Not an issue so much when I have a car for 2-3 days which is usually the case.
I hate interiors. I feel I do not have adequate lighting in the car. Need to buy one of those LED claw lights.
I need to get some bandanna`s because in the Atlanta heat/ humidity I drip sweat everywhere. lol

I am with you on that. I feel like I am always scrambling and wasting time. LED light stand really helps with the interior too so you won`t regret picking that up. Car looks fantastic btw.

All finished up. Had one mishap that I have to fix next week when I help with the new wheels. One the the emblems was falling apart and scratched the passenger side door and I didn`t have any machines with me. This car has fought me since the beginning. Applying EXOv3 after the first coat four days later wasn`t the greatest either. Difficult to buff off.

I used a few drops of Groit`s Garage Iron and Fallout Remover to free up the rusty pliers and scissors in my boat. I tried it just for giggles and it worked amazingly, movements are better than when they were new also ate a lot the surface rust right off them.

    This was kinda interesting.

I don`t mind doing these. 2 hrs wash wheels and wax, $85 and he`s having me do a headlight job next, and probably his newer nicer truck.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

Been on a bit of a detailing dry spell. I`m trying to get a MTA certification do I can get into Western Governor`s University and finish up my BS IT degree, so detailing fun has been going on the back burner.

After going for a short ride on my new scooter on Saturday and getting caught in some light showers, o realized that my visor sucked in the rain. So last night, for shiz and giggles, I applied PBL glass coating on it. I checked it this morning with a bit of water squeezed out of a wet paper towel, and the water just ran away from the visor, and the remaining beads rolled off with a light breath.

Pleased with the results, I went ahead and compounded and polished the rest of the helmet, and then applied the PBL paint coating as well. I know, pathetic, wasting perfectly good PBL on a helmet but, hey, at least I got to get a bit of my detailing fix in!

A little Kamikaze Infinity Wax; put over Miyabi & ISM combo. Not expecting anything earth shattering from it but just had to try it.

Something about the appearance after application is pleasing to my eye. More depth maybe, a smoother and warm, glassy-er look but not necessarily `hard candy` look.

Can`t quite put my finger on it, very subtle but nice.
