I tried to polish, after washing it I started to clay and it literally started to melt. Oh the joys of no garage.

Then it rained anyways and the power went out.

A carport or a canopy will do the trick until the finances are in order. Good luck. I`ve been there....

Yeah definitely would help. I`m just in between moves in the military right now and I`m not a fan of begging someone to let me use their garage for countless hours. Only a month or so more until I move.

I noticed you like to try different mitts and media for your washes. How does the RC mitt stack up against the rest?

Al, What did you think of the Meguiar`s HyperWash?

I like the RaceGlaze mitts a lot. They have a broader face that most mitts and easy to hold flat on the paint.

It was good. It felt nice on paint and worked well with the Race Glaze mitt plus super easy to rinse. I rate the suds as moderate - lasted the entire wash just not constantly generating lots of suds as some. It did not have the richness that some soaps have - usually the gelish ones -- but that is personal preference.

When I went to the garage this morning, the garage had the nice scent (clean soap scent smell) to it.

I haven`t done anything to the Jetta for a while. Its been a month of rain, and more rain. Couple that with a muddy and dusty parking lot, it just discourages you. Add to that, the interior has suffered friends kids, dogs (who is 65lbs and thinks he has to ride in my lap! ), food, etc. and it was in need of a good cleaning too. I know some of you would freak going so long without a cleanup, but if I`m going to do something, it`s going to be right. Haven`t had time to do that. Got an early start at aound 6:30 this morning and finished at 9:30. Just took my time. Course, after finishing they are calling for thunderstorms later in the week, oh joy.

    Megs Hyperwash
    Chemical Guys Diablo Wheel Gel
Black Restore (for the black under bumper trims)

It appears PB`s EX Sealant and Natty`s Red is holding up well.

Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

I spend a lot of time working on my 1997 Dakota. I started this morning washing it in the rain and then moved it inside to work on the paint. (This truck was repainted back in 2007).

I also did a lot of side by side comparisons between the Flex and Rupes 15.

I was going to start with Prima Amigo but decided to go with Menz. 106FA and an Uber Blue Pad although I did the cab top with Blackfire Total Polish and Seal.

I finished it all with Blackfire Black Ice.

Some BF Black Ice usage notes:
    1. black color and smells like shoe polish (learned Montan is also in shoe polish). Soft style wax.
    2. applies very evenly with provided substantial (not a thin foam like the yellow ones) applicator
    3. Haze time 10 minutes (instructions), buffs every easily. Unlike shoe polish, the buffing towel is not black when you buff off
    4. Initial slickness - fairly slick, not super slick like some sealants
    5. Glossiness - medium so far. Need to wait 24 hrs since these softer waxes tend to look different the next day

I plan to post some outside shots when I get some sun.

The interior was done yesterday and the engine bay was done for the first time last week.

    Other products used:
Meg`s M105 - cleaned up the jambs finally
Mothers Chrome Polish - chrome bumpers
    Mothers Spray Wax - wheels
Mothers Back to Black Tire Renew - tires
    Optimum Opti-bond - Tires
Solution Finish - all the black trim
    Sprayway Glass Cleaner - exterior
Poorboy`s Trim Restorer - plastics under bumper
Ultima Waterless Wash - wheels (had cleaned them well last week)
Chem Guys Bare Bones - wheel wells

This was shot at ISO 3200 in an attempt to get more depth of field. It barely fits in the garage.

Headlights are next on the list -- actually corrected them a couple times, maybe get some new ones.

Thanks. I really need to fix the headlights. I have cleaned them up twice and may just get some cheap China ones for under $100 total or buy them from Dodge for $400. When I bought some cheap ones for my Sebring, they fit ok but did not include one adjustment feature so the aim is a tad high. It came with zero instructions.

Tried out Duragloss Bug Remover, Poorboys Spray and Rinse, and Sonax Glass Cleaner.

And checked up on the 3M spray-bra. not happy right now with it.
