Re: What did you do detailing wise today?

    My truck was a mess.

I had hauled two loads of dirt on Friday so the truck bed was a mess. I ended up getting out the pressure washer and using some Adam`s soap mixed with APC in a foam cannon to help clean it along with a bristle brush.

I then decided to start on the rest of the Dakota. I did the jambs to get all the pollen out (it sits among pine trees), around the rear glass (more pollen), and also did the engine compartment. I finished the engine off with Sonus Motor Cote.

I cleaned them with P21s Total Auto Wash. It is always nice to use. It may not be best strongest cleaner but it has a nice scent, great clingy suds making it perfect for cleaning vertical surfaces, and generally safe on surfaces You can also see where you spread it easier so nice to use with a pencil style brush.

I did a quick wash of the paint by rinsing with a pressure washer, foaming with the hose with Optimum Car Wash in a Griot`s foam gun (the trigger was sticking so had to use the shutoff - need to contact Griots), then without rinsing again washing with Optimum using 2BM. Suds that seem to have a half life of a day or so.

Bunky--How is the performance of the Griots Foam gun--I`ve been considering getting one, but hadn`t heard any comments on the forums?

It is pretty good. The trigger was sticky today but a little Vaseline helped.

It is a mostly plastic design and you cannot easily adjust the mixture like the Gilmour (you have to change an insert in the tube).

Here is a video using Optimum soap (around 1 part soap, 10 parts water).

That foam looks pretty impressive for a hose. Of course, the OptiSoap probably helps. I have a foam cannon, but keep thinking of getting a gun as well to try the Ammo NYC style wash.

It is. I had used the Gilmour previously and traded it but got it since it was $30.

Well my dad got a new 2013 Ford Fusion this past weekend. Since my mom was being jealous I had to detail her car first. So I only had time to decontaminate and put a fresh coat of BFMS on it. Im not a Ford guy, but this car is pretty awesome. Im just mad they stole my fav cars design(Aston Martin DB9)....

What color is it? It looks like they are painting Fusion betters since many have lots of orange peel.

Metallic black. Tons of flakes in the paint. It does have the usual orange peel the factory paint jobs always have.

I really want that V12 in the background. Not a good motor in the BMW, but enough room to drop in a nice American V8

Tuxedo Black Metallic then. I found the Fusion/MKZ`s (I have an MKZ) had more than most. I have seen Mustangs with similar paint codes (supposedly not made in the Mexico plant) look better so I attribute it to mfg plant as well.
