    wassup wit da brinkman

i pulled my double xenon brinkman out today after not using it all winter and i got nothing. figure the battery is more than likely dead, so i plug it in figuring i`ll use the electrical way. still nothing. could my bulbs be blown or does the battery need to be charged for 24 hrs or what. your best guess...

To be perfectly honest, this is my biggest detailing disappointment.

    • Drains the batteries even when off
    • There`s no guarantee that the lights come on even if the batteries are fresh
    • Could be high-beam or low-beam
    • Works best when it`s dark out...as long as it come on

what the heck is that bobby. ain`t never seen no contraption like that. i`ll keep mine plugged in overnight and see what happens i guess. i`ll be looking for something else if that doesn`t take care of the problem.

    How old is it?

They come with 1yr warranties. If has died, call Brinkmann and fax your receipt. They will replace it. Good company.

That is the LED Brinkmann inspection light, little different. My xenon light is beginning to show its age as one of the bulbs are dead and it won`t hold a charge as long. Not holding a charge as long isn`t such a big problem though, as it`s not too tricky to leave it plugged in while I`m working.

I would say just leave your light plugged in for a while longer and see what happens. If it still won`t turn on you may want to take out the bulbs and see if the filaments are broken.

I bought two of those thankfully at less than half price in a close out store. The batteries are the biggest let down even when charged/discharged properly. I`ll not buy another.

The brinkman is an awesome tool for correction/inspection but I had 2 die on me for no reason/not hold a charge. If they fixed the battery draining issue it would be a no brainer investment.

Today I noticed mine was not lasting long on a charge either. Has anyone tried opening it up to change the battery?

These guys in the UK are clever and resourceful. Here`s a link how they made their own version of a SunGun and from what I can figure, it`s like a UK version of a Brinkman.

Not that difficult, so much so that even I could give it a try and I`m a bit of a klutz.
I`m thinking garage and yard sales would have quite a few of the older 12 volt drills, batteries and chargers at very reasonable prices.

To think after pitching away cordless drills once broke. That truly is clever.

That would be nice but normally they return them for credit. Anybody have better luck with the non rechargeable? My big Lots has them for $10.00.

Hopefully yours does too. I saw a post where they had a certain product and stopped in to only find out they had removed almost all of their car products so they are hit and miss for sure.

Bought one of the krypton ones from Big Lots. Will be trying out this weekend. Bulbs are farther apart, only come on together and don`t seem as bright as the xenon model. Will let everyone know.

Not in the car section, btw.
