Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick- How to and review.

The Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick is designed for treating weather stripping and rubber trim. One of the main benefits, besides conditioning the rubber and slowing/preventing aging, is that it is moisture resistant. This prevents moisture from freezing (during cold weather) on the seal and ultimately freezing the door shut. This makes this item almost essential for those unfortunate souls who live in cold weather. How does it look and how easy is it to use?

Here is my door seal prior to doing anything.

I gave it a wipedown with Wurth Clean-Solve although any all purpose cleaner will do. There was very little dirt transfer.

Here is what the Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick looks like.

Removing the cap reveals a foam applicator sponge attached directly to the bottle, similar to a show polish applicator. Hold the bottle upside down and press to prime the sponge.

Application is easy. The Rubber Gel lays down very thin and begins to flash immediately.

Here is what it looks like 20 seconds after applying...

After 1 minute it was completely dry to the touch and finished to a `oh so slightly darker then nothing` finish.

The rubber feels very soft to the touch but doesn`t not have any any greasy or slick feel. I trust Wurth so much that I am considering taking a road trip to some cold weather, parking in a convience store, and watching people struggle with frozen doors. The whole time I will be making comments like "oh your doors are frozen again," while easily opening my doors and making additional comments like "wanna feel how soft my door seals are".

Then again maybe not, but Wurth Rubber Care Gel Stick is a great product.

    Very nice!

Have you used the 1Z Gummi Pflege stick? If so how do you feel it compares to the Wurth?

I have been using the 1Z one for years and always thought it did a great job, but it is known to run at times.

I love 1Z`s Gummi Pfledge, in fact I just like saying Pfledge, but it can be a little streaky/running. Gummi Pfledge has a shine to it, this doesn`t, so while they are apply similar they are very different looking products.

Wurth is more expensive per ounce.

What about durability. Which last longer Wurth or 1Z ??
Is there any company data regarding their durability ??

I do like my 1Z Gummi, it makes application super easy. I like the fact that this is the same style application. How often should this be applied?

I have seen 1Z last quite a long time (multiple months). I will keep an eye on Wurth and post an update here when it starts to wane.

    Thanks for your help Todd.
I have used 1Z for all my vehicles and like the results. Knowing that Wurth has some special properties for winter`s is a plus. There are alot of vehicles producted that a little frozen water near seals acts like a glue to make opening the doors a pain. Thanks for remote starters.

For years I fought with the rubber boot at the bottom of my garage door.

After one application of a similar product, the boot no longer freezes to the concrete sill.

It`s also great to treat door jamb weatherstripping around the house. It keeps the rubber alive and cuts down on air infiltration.
