My first car was a 1971 Pontiac Grand Prix with a 455 cubic inch motor... rust bucket from Ohio. I restored & repainted it... then I bought my first "real" car: 1970 Pontiac Formula 400 with the Ram-Air 4 option. The car had 32,000 original miles in 1980, and as I was considering the price he was asking, the owner admitted that the car had seen rain TWICE.... SOLD!!!!!!!!! I later sold the car for College tutition.

From what I have read, a mint 1970 Ram-Air 4 is worth a fortune today.

Datsun 240 Z. Damn I miss that car. Stupid dad traded it for a station wagon. Oh well. The first car I ever bought and paid for myself was a 1994 Ford Probe.

`72 Plymouth Fury III. That sucker was BIG; everyone I knew in high school just referred to it as "the Boat". I swear I could have rented out the trunk to a family of four . . .

Rusted fenderwells and an 8 track player in 1987. Had a 305 engine and I called her the "Firechicken". She lasted about 6 months of constantly laying rubber.:sosad

The year was 1980 and I paid $1000 for a 1970 Chevy Monte Carlo. It was really sedate looking with tan paint and a brown vinyl top. However it had a strong running 454 under the hood making it a great sleeper. Of course it handled like a cement truck but it sure went straight well.

1990 - bought a 1979 Z28 350 4-speed Black on Black leather (vinyl) with 8,302 original miles on it...the guy had a carpeted garage, ordered it new in 1979 and then never drove it. He had waxed it so much that the shine was blinding - no swirls...used Meguiar`s #7 and gave me a case of it when I bought the car. I think I still have some in the garage!

Imagine the look on his face when an 18 year old kid with $6K in his pocket comes to buy his "baby"...he had a whole checklist of things I was supposed to do to it on a regular basis.

Next car was a 1993 Cobra - bought it new, first year at the dealership as a tech. I added 3.73 gears, headers, cat-back exhaust, larger MAF & Throttle body, Crane 1.72:1 roller rockers, MSD 6AL ignition box, K&N filter, sub-frame connectors, and strut brace. Fun car, sold it to an 18 year old kid with $25K in his pocket in 1997 when it had 8,500 miles on it...I gave him a check list too. Funny how things go full circle!

My first car was a 67 GTO. It had a fiberglass front clip. And the rest was mostly rust held together with red primer. The engine was the only good part of the car, a 400 H.O.
