Lets say I want to put a quick layer of wax in between big wax jobs. Say the car is dusty. Is it preferrable to use a quick detailer to remove dust or just wash the car before using a quick wax spray?

THey offer no durability, and are really loaded with oils. THey attract more dust than they are worth.....

But if you have your heart set on using one, I would wash the car first...especially black. You are gonna be rubbing the product into the paint, and you don`t want anything in between that could scratch your finish.....

I agree with DK - just wash it... I`ve been washing my car every day for the past 2 days, as I am using 3M abrasives on it. I thought about QD`ing it... but then I thought for a minute and shuddered.

Washing a clean car, I forego the 2-bucket method and get lots of lather going in 2 to 3 gallons of water, and walk around the car and wipe the entire car down (after I rinsed the whole car). Then I rinse again and dry (boy I hate drying). Takes 15 to 20 minutes, but I ONLY do it this way when the car is CLEAN... I.E., clean enough to QD (or maybe a littel beyond that).

Whew, sorry for the long post to a simple question.

I would offer that a wash and a quality QD (EF, Pinn., 1gSHo) would be better than the quick wax plan.

Which did you have in mind?

I hadn`t thought about the image that conveys.... good point. I know that it was freezing cold that day, and the Range got a 2 step correction, but there is no reason to assume anyone else will know that... Thanks for pointing it out. I may run through a few different pics for the front page.

    Keep the thoughts coming!
