I`m with this idea. Mines been removed for years with no ill effects.

Hey Jay... Yeah, I agree. I like the "no-pad" look. Easy to clean, low maintenance and no apparent reason for it`s existence IMO!!!

I`ve read all the alleged purposes of the pad:

... Sound insulation
... Heat insulation
... Fire protection

I say..... BLAH, BLAH, BLAH!!!:

I had mine off my black GP for 8 years... the hood looked brand new when I sold it.:biggrin:
