    Engine Detail... C3 Corvette...

I`m in the process of doing a cosmetic restoration on a 1980 Corvette with 20,328 actual miles on it!

It`s called a "survivor" because it has never had anything done to it except battery.

Original tires, hoses, brake pads, paint, exhaust, glass, etc. No touch ups have ever been done to the paint.

This makes the car more valuable, in the eyes of NCRS purists.

The engine bay wasn`t too bad, just a lot of rust and dust!

    Process:

I washed the engine bay with Purple Power APC/Water 50:50 and a paint brush.

    Rinsed with water.

Then I removed the rust with "Rust Dissolver Gel" from O`Reilly`s Auto Parts/Paint brush/Rinse/Dry

Sprayed the entire engine bay with Stoner Trim Shine. (I was told not to do any touch up painting.)

    Wiped excess...

    Before:

    After:

I`ll be posting pics of the remaining portion of the restoration as I get it done.

Bill, it still looks good to me, (I can at least identify most of the parts). Keep us posted on your progress. I would love to see the car as you move forward.

I`ve done the engine, wheels, tires and undercarriage (the nasty jobs!)

Today I`ll be doing the interior, carpets, glass and paint polishing. Hopefully I`ll finish up by tomorrow.
