Stay cool in the southeast this w/e

Here is the forecast for Atlanta:

    Thur
    Jun 18
    Mostly Sunny
    94?
    75?
    10%

    Fri
    Jun 19
    Mostly Sunny
    96?
    75?
    10%

    Sat
    Jun 20
    Partly Cloudy
    96?
    75?
    20%

Looks like the humidity will be in the 60% range these days.

Time to get all 4 of my fans going in the garage on Thursday when I have a new Audi to work on.

    Drink lots of water/sports drinks.

Take breaks in the AC every hour or two.

Fill a small cooler with ice water, place a few small white hand towels into the water. Place them on the back of your neck while detailing. If you towel is large enough, you can place it over your head and down onto your neck. A light colored hat overtop will keep it in place.

Staying watered up all the time will also help, nobody likes this but limit alcohol intake the night before. Alcohol dehydration is not a fun feeling when its 100?f and you have a detail where you have to work in the heat.

    Take care of yourself!

Wish I have that last weekend, I was outside under a metal carport with the temps in the mid 90`s and the humidity around 85. Feel like it was 110 that day. I was beat after 6hrs on the wife`s car. Play safe everyone.

I have a small portable unit, but without being insulated it will only drop the humidity about 10%. The temp stays the same. I was looking at the split units (15k BTU), but at $1500 plus having an AC guy hook it at $400....I decided to pass.

Well mine is nothign crazy either, though the garage is well insulated. It`s a little small for the size of the garage but makes a noticable difference. I usually only use it on humid days though. I like the heat!

Sometimes I`ll have the customer leave the car in the evening. I`ll do the interior and wash the car that night, then get up the next morning early and polish/wax the exterior.

    Works out pretty well!!!

To me it is a lot more peaceful being in the garage at night working on a car.

It was supposed to have been hot today (90`s) but cloud cover and an almost persistent gusty wind (front coming through) kept it quite tolerable..

I do it to avoid interuptions (having a 3 year old interupt you every 5 mins makes detailing a very LOOONG process). I cleaned my truck Saturday night starting at 9pm and finished with a coat of Wet-Ice around 2am. I was avoiding rain though, not heat. Its been in the 60-70`s here and has rained every day for a couple weeks now...my grass looks AMAZING!
