Red ants....

I was ONR`ing a clients car, before i detail it tomorrow, after work today and was moving around to the rear of the car and happened to find a huge red ant hill... Well i guess i should say that my foot found it... i had them crawling all over my foot. Thankfully they didn`t bite me too much but boy did it get my attention.

Are `red` ants also called `fire` ants?

I am amazed at the size of some of the fire ant hills that we see in SC, some are nearly four feet high-or at least we are told the mounds are fire ant nests.
