Time will tell if it’s the ultimate wash mitt. Looks like the price is decent.

What exactly are the "imported fibers from Mauritius" that this wash media is made from?? The product description states "Perfect medium between tight synthetic and deep pile natural mitts." So it is not microfiber and it is not wool. What "medium" is it?

I`ve transitioned from some wool mitts that were high maintenance and eventually fell apart (literally!) to microfiber noodle pads that I like.

Heh heh, I see I`m not the only person to over that "from Mauritius".

What`re they talking about with that "brushing and combing" of wool/etc. mitts? I`ve never done anything like that to a wash mitt in my life.

I like supporting Autopia, but nutty ad-copy pings my radar.

Yikes, I no sooner key in the above than I see that you consider them high maintenance! (And that you like my least fave type of wash media too!)

Yes, the sheepskin ones do eventually start to fall apart after [however many] years, but even then they`re still OK for use on non-critical areas for a long time after that...And I just never do anything much to mine, so I`m genuinely curious (not *critical*, hope I`m not coming across that way..though OK, I *am* critical of the "noodle/Muppet" ones ) why they`d need any kind of maintenance. It`s almost like people who maintain them (more than I do) get a shortened working-life as a result.

I just drape mine over the edge of the Wash Buckets and let `em air-dry. Maybe wash them twice/year in Woolite/Delicate Cycle/air-dry. They last for years that way...wonder why the differing experiences?

I ordered one. Looks like a version of the microfiber madness incredimitt! We will see for $10 minis 25% it’s worth a shot.

    To answer above a bit:

Is a microfiber mitt with longer strands.
Combing refers to some long hair media such as the Dodo Wookies Fist and the CarPro merino wash mitt. These are without a doubt the most gentle mitt styles but require maintenance in combing when dry so the wool doesn’t get matted up. Not the old style sheepskin that some may be thinking of.

Dr Pldz- Hey, thanks for posting that, interesting...

I`ve pondered those Incredimitts too, basically decided "not broken/don`t fix" as I don`t use my current MF Mitts all that often.

I *still* wonder about that combing, and wonder what I must be missing! Doesn`t the matting work itself out once they`re agitated when wet? (I`ve never used the ones you mentioned as my one discernibly softer/different sheepskin mitts, which have *such* very fine strands, isn`t the right tool for the job most of the time.) Wouldn`t the combing be easier when they`re wet..like human hair? Heh heh, sorry for all the Qs but I`m trying to figure this out without buying one

The longer hair on the two I mentioned are about 2 inches long I’d have to measure for sure. For whatever reason it is easier to comb when dry. Basically you are fluffing it back up kinda like teasing an 80’s hair band member Hair. These aren’t the mitts for every job but they are the safest and most gentle that I have used. Kinda like a cushion of air. One issue with this style wash mitt is that the long hairs can get caught up in emblems. Not sure if the matting would work it’s way out as you mentioned. Being these are long fibers, I think they would progressively get worse and more tangled/knotted if you don’t comb the mitt.

Dr Oldz- Ah, yeah...OK, I`m seeing the potential issues now..thanks for keeping at it until I got the idea.

And yeah, my "ones that`re different, and softer" are awful about snagging on..most anything. Using them on some vehicles is just an exercise in frustration.

Heh heh, another reason to insist on reasonably hard paint (thinks this non-Pro, who can pick his battles).

Mauritis is an island country in the Indian Ocaen. Think of Madagascar but further east from Africa.

But what is it that makes a MF mitt from there so special? My Inner Cynic kinda knee-jerks to "it`s special because most people are unfamiliar with it so it sounds exotic"..

That’s what I thought as well. I would say the ad copy should showcase unique features or abilities more so than exotic locales

LOL. I thought synthetic fibers grew on exotic synthetic trees on small remote islands.

Heh heh, well, the color of the thing does look kinda tropical

I`m still trying to remember that "wax" doesn`t necessarily mean "natural"! And hey, those old cotton CBT/DFT towels were marketed as "natural MF"!
