Guys follow me here. Microfiber are closer to plastic than fabric. I use a Low foam degreaser as detergent and a hydrogen peroxide as pre wash with an extra rinse cycle and I’ve got zero issues.

Most microfiber wash is close to mild degreaser.

I don’t know what’s in MF wash but definitely works better than all or tide free and clear. I’m currently using griots ( used 3D Kleen and just got McKee’s) and loving this stuff. You add it to your detergent and towels super soft and don’t have issues with absorbency no matter what I been wiping off with it.

And, as I have said before, using for over 14 years, this available at the Autopia Store -- https://www.autopia-carcare.com/mr-1...l#.XYo7b1WpH3g

And even Chemical Guys version at the Autopia Store -- https://www.autopia-carcare.com/cg-m...l#.XYo7uVWpH3g
As nutty/dizzying/overkill as their website is, sometimes, they have great Sales on this product, so you have take a deep breath, settle down, and go look..

Washed all my microfibers a zillion times, dried in low heat, = Never an issue with cleanliness of all these microfibers; they are always soft, very absorbent, never damaged, etc... Always work like new, and these are all pre-fluffy-puffy-pants-towels !!! Still a firm believer in "if It ain`t broken, don`t need to fix it"..

Stokdgs- Yeah, sigh...if the Micro Restore were always as cheap as the competition I`d just use that all the time. I gather that particular Chemical Guys one is just as good?

Like yours, my MFs seem to last almost indefinitely despite my not pampering them in the least. I`m always a bit surprised when somebody has a radically different experience with theirs. But eh, I say that about sheepskin mitts and all sorts of other things too.

    Mi Hermano, El Accumulator` !
Hope all is good with you and yours !
Yeah, I know... i have also used the heck out of mine, never pampered them, etc.., Perhaps the difference is that all of mine were made In Korea which is where they were only made way back then, as far as I found...
I had friends who bought those yellow Costco microfibers, made in China, and saw the damage they accidently did with them, in less than average lighting, on Jet Black Mercedes Paintwork, (which was already that Ceramic-Clear version, harder on purpose..), and saw the handwriting on the wall, so to speak, and never purchased -anything- microfiber from China..
Who knows if they (China) are now or have for awhile, changed their less than minimum quality manufacturing processes/ techniques, I just don`t want to go through the hassle of dealing with this as much as possible..
I DO know from averaging over 100 orders/year with Amazon Prime for 17 years, that the amount of Chinese Junk being sold through Amazon, has increased to a huge amount every year, for several years..
Now, it seems all I see on there IS Chinese produced everything !
Yes, Amazon has a very generous return policy, probably the best one in all the land, but the hassle of dealing with this has made me less than happy to now shop my used-to-be-favorite site..

Stokdgs- Well, Accumulatorette is keeping Amazon in the black all by herself

AFAIK none of my (Detailing) MFs are from China, maybe that is a big factor. TBH, I`ve never really paid much attention to all the seemingly subtle diffs between MFs (country of origin, composition %, any of that) other than the GSM and nap type/length.

Re: Are we cleaning our Microfibers correctly?

I have no problems with my creature edgeless, 365 premium terry, 420 spectrum’s (China) and Eagle edgeless, pluffles (Korea) with performance washing at first with a Free and Clear detergent, then 3D Kleen and now Griots mixed with a F&C.

I don’t think it has to do with origin. I think it has to do with quality. Most of mine are 70/30 and 95% from the Rag company.

Has to be a quality thing. I’ve seen a Costco and wouldn’t compare to any of the above mentioned

I suspect it`s more about quality than country of origin too. The cheapie ones I use for household stuff are, well...cheap. They wear out pretty fast no matter what I do with `em (or to them). Meanwhile, some of my good ones from the advent of MF are still fine after ~20 years (or however long it`s been since the original Miracle Towel/etc. came out).

Not that I don`t consider China to be the Devil

Look I don’t have a problem with Chinese manufactured products. It is American companies going over their to find the cheapest labor possible and are OK with cutting corners. If you pay to have it built right they can build quality products....... i phones and griots polishers for example.

As American consumers we approve this but being the cheapest price products..... if you want quality made.... not just American..... it costs

Coatings=Crack- Eh, I consider any Communist/Socialist country to be the Devil. I don`t have a categorical issue with Chinese-built stuff, just with their System. And yes, usually greater up-front cost buying quality stuff, which is hopefully offset by other factors when appropriate (nothing wrong with "disposable [whatever]" if that`ll do the job at the right cost, but it`s seldom the way I want to jump).

Re: Are we cleaning our Microfibers correctly?

I take mine to the local coin laundry place twice a year, because I don`t want washes, waxes, APCs, in the same place I clean my clothes (sorry to people who wash after me).

I have a bottle of Chemical Guys microfiber cleaner and I follow the directions, seems to work for me.

Just FWIW, I`ve never had that become an issue when I use the household washer for Detailing textiles (my shop`s washer has been dead for a while again..). But I suppose that depends on the washer too..

Heh heh, for that matter, I guess some of the household MFs get much nastier than my Detailing ones! Those do usually get run through the shop washer, but not always.

Yeah, that one worked fine for me too as best I can recall....no memorable issues at least, unlike some that either didn`t get things clean or sudsed something awful. I do still pre-treat with APC/etc. as needed though.

Oh, and a belated Welcome to Autopia!

Hey, how do you get by taking your MFs to the laundermat biannually? Gee, I`m cleaning some of my MFs after every car wash.
