Using a Heat gun to dry paint.

I have read where people use a Heat gun/Hair dryer to dry touchup paint to speed up the drying process. Does anyone have any experience doing this ? Are you able to polish it the same day ?
    Thank you for ANY help/comments.

Anytime I`ve done touch up paint, I try to give it a couple weeks before I go back with the polisher. I find the best result with that strategy and the paint isn`t ripped out of the wound.

The hardening of fresh paint isn`t a matter of drying but rather curing. Even "baked" paints have always taken quite a while to harden up for me. IME it`s something you just can`t rush, but with products like DrColorChips things are a bit different, so IMO it depends on how you do the touchup.

Tom p, Accumulator- Thank you both for the valuable lesson/insight to the difference of paint drying and paint curing.

I do if i.absolutly have to but most of the touch up pens from dealerships come with a clear coat on bottom the heat gun helps cure this so a polish not buff is available to gloss it up enough for customer vars. I have a waiver form for customers stating that its touch up and not respray and may not look as nice as they expect.
