chevy nova project. metal polishing and paint defects

owner of this nova asked me to help him prep it for an upcoming car show. the car has got a few problems i need to solve for him.

it has been recently painted and wet sanded by his own guy. paint job has a few flaws and defects i have not seen before.

a few of these bubbles in the hood, looks like clear is missing?

these are on the roof. visible from one angle. not seen at all from another angle.

are any of these repairable without a repaint?

lastly, i have not done much aluminum polishing yet but he needs me to tackle all the metal work on this vehicle. all trim and wheels.

i see the autopia store has a wolfgang and blackfire metal kit but not much info on the pads. what should i be using for pads/machine?

As far as I know there won`t be anything you can do bout the paint holes but his paint guy might be able to. As for the aluminum the trim will be very tricky and time consuming

Unfortunately there is no fix for those paint defects other than a repaint. They are from improper prep. I have a couple of areas like that on that on my Grand Prix after the repaint.

Do you have any metal polish on hand?

mothers, havent tried it yet. not sure what pad to use with it. some of those trim pieces are thin and tiny

Start off with a typical yellow foam applicator or a finger pocket.

    Sweet car.

I had the same type trim on my `68 Camaro. The trim around the windows, rockers and wheel wells is stainless. There`s nothing that can be done w that to make it look better short of removing it from the car and polishing it w various buffing wheels. It`s a long involved process which involves straightening the trim by hand, hammering out any dents w different size hammers, using various "Grit" files then hitting it w several buffing wheels coated w Jeweller`s Rouge.

Restored stainless trim is a thing of beauty but there`s really only one right way to do it.

The mirror and bumpers are obviously chrome. I used to use Meg`s NXT Chrome polish. Worked great (although I`m not even sure if they make it any more)

It`s tough to tell if the wheels are chrome or aluminum from the photos but I used to use a Mothers PowerBall on my Camaro wheels. Worked really well.

That is a great looking Nova !!!!! I have a 67 as well and have found good success with finger pockets as Guz has already stated. Really allows you to get into smaller areas and have greater control.
