    Re: Garden Hose

Reviving this - I was just doing research online for a new hose and realized I should be searching Autopia instead lol. I need a new hose because my Home Depot hose which is supposed to be no kink constantly kinks and its always frustrating when doing a detail.

Swanicyouth - I was looking at the flexogen but based on your review I think I will be going with the Stanley.

    Re: Garden Hose

I`ve got a couple of the Flexogen hoses. I`ve got a brand new one in the basement. They`re good quality hoses with real nice fittings.

I`ve been running the black rubber Sears hose for the past year or so. It does remain flexible in all temps and does kink once in a while. The hose is a bit odd...it`s kind of got a mind of its own. It has a tendency to unwind itself and wrap around things and grab them. It grabbed the handle on the lawn mower once and I ended up pulling the lawn mower into the hood of the car. I was NOT happy about that. It`s somewhat heavy too. But the durability will be good, I can tell.

    These are good hoses:

I`ve had my 50` Zero-G for close to a year now and absolutely love it. Its hands down the best hose I`ve ever used.

My brother returned his flexzilla to get one he liked it so much.

When I bought mine I think they only had 50` now they have 25`, 50`, and 100`.

The Stanley is still legit and still the best hose I`ve ever used. It`s not as stiff as the black real rubber hoses, in fact it`s very flexible. I`ve never used a Flexzilla - but have handled one. The Stanley seems similar but at a better price.

Only thing I don`t like about the Stanley is the light yellow color. It gets dirty easy, so I end up wiping it down with APC when I role it up.

    Re: Garden Hose

Regarding the hose color, I use black hoses for the water and reddish ones for foamguns/pressure washer/undercar wand.

Tom P- Yikes, sorry to hear about the lawn mower vs. hood incident!

IME all self-coiling hoses (even ones that aren`t billed as such) have minds of their own. I only coil the hoses on the north side of the wash bay, just lay the south side ones out more or less length-wise so they`re out of the way but easy to deploy.

    Re: Garden Hose

Eh, this thread just got sorta timely for Yours Truly as I have to re-replace a fitting on the ancient hose from Griot`s that I inherited. That thing`s been repaired a few times now, gets a couple inches shorter each time but that`s OK....so far.

    Hey Dschribs,
I need to buy a garden hose for my house. How is your Eley hose? Is it the "best" hose in its class?

Absolutely!!! Money well spent. I wouldn`t buy any other hose after owning an Eley. Has never kinked on me once. I love it.

The reel is awesome as well. Most likely the last hose reel I will ever have to buy.

That Eley hose looks outstanding. Nice fittings. Most hoses go cheap on the fittings.

    Re: Garden Hose

I had a green craftsman hose, way to stiff, pain to hang it up on hook I have setup in garage, always had to fight to twist/unwind it to coil up on hook, doesn`t want to lay flat on ground. Got flexzilla, so far so good, very pleased so far.

Womder if they make the Eley in 3/4"...not that I expect to replace my hoses again in this lifetime...
