Going to the dark side... Almost...

I knew this would happen, it was only a matter of time. Sprayable vinyl systems that are customizable, peel able, mimic real paint, polishable and even coat able!

I`m placing my order today for a complete respray of my S60R (I`m going with either Oem volvo electric silver or a 1 off of BMW`s san marino blue). The S7 is also getting completely sprayed in spray shield (Liquid clear bra that is crystal clear). This will stop the door scuffs and rock chipping on the rear quarters.

I will be posting my progress in this thread of both cars, I think is a very wild alternative to normal detailing.

Hmm sounds cool, a little confused if you can use any of them as a standalone kr if you need to use the flex paint as base

Re: Going to the dark side... Almost...

Wanting to know how long the OP intends to leave this coating on and how much it costs to have it done? I just watched a 25 minute video on how to install this product and another 5 minute video that shows a like product being peeled off. I mean no offense though I`ve got to imagine it sounds like I do with this statement but I can`t imagine a real car guy wanting to do this. For the time it is on your car, you have door jambs, under hood and trunk that don`t match the OE color (unless someone goes well beyond what I watched). For starters that would drive me nuts everytime I opened the door. I can see this being just the ticket for a get away car but I`m sorry to say I don`t get it. I guess if it didn`t cost much, well maybe but there`s a ton of time that goes into a 10 coat or more install, it can`t be cheap. Please tell me your objective. Again, I`m just inquisitive, not trying to beat anyone up.

Not at all, this is a great solution on many levels.

    1. It`s thick enough to stop rock chips and door dings.
    2. It`s temporary, I want something temp. I plan on leaving this on for 1-2 years. My paint is riddled with marks from rock chips to door scratches to awful pitting. This is a the easiest way to get rid of it all.
    3. I can now run my favorite colors, not just by what the manufacturer made.

As far as the jambs, I`m not worried. It`s my daily driver, the kbb is 10k and it has 100k miles on it... not to mention it goes to the city once a week. I would do this with a brand new car just for the protection aspect alone though, even get a matching color or just the clear bra spray.

May I ask the price? Interested in how it compares to a more typical wrap.

It costs from a shop around 1200-1500. I`m only paying for materials so around 4-500.

Alright so after seeing demo cars in person it just didn`t seem right. There was too much texture, far more than even OEM clear coatings systems from BMW! In the end the texture was so much it took away from the paint clarity. Now that I opened up a shop with a partner, that`s linked to a high end resto shop we have access to paint to I wound up respraying my panels.

I think this is a good solution for non autopian`s but to the discerning eye, it`s off.
