I thought Id bump this epic thread as I feel everyone should know that Anthony was (and still is) the godfather of coatings. Everyone that has reaped the bountiful rewards by adding them to your arsenal should be aware of this and know that without him and this thread this aspect of industry might not be what it is today.

I remember him posting this back then, a great detailer that alot of folks who dont know about should read some of his threads.

Truer words were never spoken here !

These good men Anthony and Ron, have been doing this work longer than some of the readers on this Forum have been alive..

I read their posts for years before I ever had the pleasure of meeting them at their shop, and having them work over my Grand Cherokee after one of my 2,000 mile drives from NorCal to San Antonio..

Their beautiful, well organized, clean, very well lit, and clean shop reflects how these men and their family members are, and live their lives..

The number of years experience combined is definitely way, way, longer than anyone on this Site including all the old guys like myself..

+1 to what Dan said. I have had the pleasure of stopping by Ron and Anthonys shop many years ago and they let my then 10yo son sit in a beaut of a Ferrari (dad just admired the car). Id love to spend a month just playing intern there to pick up a smidge of knowledge at that business for my own personal use.

I once paid someone $300 for an hour to detail my car. She was so good - I even gave her a tip.

Wouldnt that kind of be the opposite of detailing?

(Was going to go with something else, but its kind of pushing the limits I think.)

Didnt Anthony have a test vehicle he put OCP on right down the middle? Half the car, including rear window was perfect the other half was a normal car? that was neat at the time.

    Re: $300 In An Hour

Its amazing that some of the questions about coatings being asked 8 years ago are still being asked today. I.E. protection against swirls, longetivity, application methods, topping, etc. Is this a failure of the manufacturer to properly address the questions or the installation specialist to properly explain the coating to the customer? The market for coatings has probably expanded over the last 8 years, but as good as coatings actually are I would have expected them to be a much larger portion of the market. It could be the lack of professional installers too. In my area of the country there are no professional coating installers. You have to go to a large metropolitan area to find a qualified installer. Or could be the manufacturer making the installer purchase a set amount of coating each month that scares away installers? As I stated earlier, still so many questions after 8 years.

    Re: $300 In An Hour

HELLO! wow...just read thru this drama the other day and it made me really reflect!

First, lot`s of you have stated some really nice things, kind words, very encouraging so for that a very heartfelt and humbling Thank You!

I look back and have to chuckle cause originally I wanted Dr. G to craft a "coating" (had no idea what to call it) for just myself and customers of mine. It sure took off in a whole different direction, LOL and got me banned from so many forums, I was "cancelled" before that was even a thing

So many things in the industry has changed in these years and honestly I am not sure it`s all for the better. I mean to be honest I still love to detail cars but not many people want that type of work performed any longer. The "art" in my tagline of "The Art & Science of Auto Detail" has kinda been snuffed out and somewhere lost, at least I feel it has. I still love laying down hand applied waxes. Miss the smell of Meguiars #7 and the joy of working on single stage Porsche Guards Red!

I pray you are all good, safe and working your dreams and passion.

    Happy Detailing!
