YouTube - Bissell Steam Shot Handheld Steam Cleaning Tool

Mike, thanks for sharing that link. When I first saw the machine, I thought it was a joke. That thing puts out a good amount of steam for a hand held. Nice!

I was skeptical too, I still am. But the link is worth watching anyways. When she first started spraying it, I though she sprayed it in her face, and was wondering why it wasn`t scalding her. Then they zoomed in and ruined my day.

So... How well would steam cleaning work on exteriors?

Just be careful with the little hand-held ones. I had the earlier Bissell model, and while it was surprisingly effective and very handy, when it developed problems it scalded me but good.

    Great writeup.

I`m interested in steam washing my entire car. There are several steam cleaners that say they are car friendly. has anyone done this yet? is it safe on the paint?

Thanks for the write up. I was thinking about trying a unit like that. I also wanna use it on door jambs were grease and grime are always in the hard to reach areas.

I got it and tested Bissel Handheld steam.

Not enought hot steam to remove anything.

Too weak. I doubt if it can clean anything in bathroom.

I will try more if it comes out more hot steams.

I am lazy to return it lol

drifts500- Eh...you might still find it useful for not-too-bad jobs around the house. I used mine on the frames of my house`s windows and their crank-out mechanisms.

Mine was probably a different model (this was a while ago), but it sure got way too hot for that. Maybe yours *is* defective.

I also had my car detailed using steam, but by a pro. How much does a steamer cost anyway? I might do it myself next time.

    crisR- Welcome to Autopia!

I don`t have a really decent answer for you, but there`s a *huge*, wide range of steamer prices. One like my Daimer is over a grand, but there are some decent ones for a few hundred. Even the really cheap ones can satisfy some people, just be careful with those as when they fail they can scald you (guess how I know).

Those aren`t the things to worry about That`s a matter of how you use it.

You want something powerful enough (for me, more power is better, period). Safe and reliable. There are a scad of different features and it`s easy to spend a fortune. It`s also easy to buy something inexpensive and have to replace it right away

Sorry, that`s not much of an answer, but IMO it boils down to how much you want to spend (oops, that borders on a pun ).

I guess quality is what I`m after for the best price possible lol I`m just new to the whole steam cleaning thing--and I can definitely see myself ruining something
