I`m sure NYD meant no offense to anyone in particular. However, I don`t really see why the mods would be any more biased towards David`s stuff than anyone else here. We would all be as likely to be biased towards David`s stuff as they would. We all enjoy this forum and appreciate the work he does to keep it going. We all have something to gain by David making a buck and keeping the board going.

However, I am also sure we all know that David is a good and decent guy. If any of us felt his products didn`t perform, I think we can be quite sure he would rather know about it so that he could try to fix the problem than to have us shill his crappy stuff so he could make a quick buck. So I see no reason why moderators, autopia lovers, or DavidB fans would be less than honest in their reviews of the products he sells. In the long run it would only hurt David, Autopia, and the reviewer who keeps buying his stuff (since they are giving up a chance to have an even better product from David) to artificially praise his stuff. In my opinion, as long as the moderators are the hard-working, upstanding volunteers we have now, then the possibility of a conflict of interest is a non-issue. There is no conflict. Just my opinion. :wavey

In my ShowroomLincoln voice: Gentlemen, lets keep it friendly.

Brian, I respect your opinion. "IMO mods should not be allowed to post product reviews on Davids line of products." Fine, if you feel that way. But to accuse the moderators of working and pushing for David`s stuff is starting a war. To accuse moderators of being dishonest and of steering people away from a sale, is starting a war. I don`t care if you say it isn`t your intention - your attitude certainly shows it. I have always liked your straight-fowardness, but today, you are a Metallic Mike.

Just my opinion. I don`t mean to start any flame wars.

My, my, my... didn`t this get ugly! What`s all the fuss about? Tomorrow is Easter. A day to celebrate. I don`t think we need an argument over something as trivial as product reviews.

Let`s be done with this and take it up another day, shall we?

I was just unhappy with the Moose Wax. I put it over the VMW and didnt see abit of differance. I do like the fact they can be applied in the sun. I will be sending the MW back. S100 or P21S will be the replacement.

    Bj -

NYD - Can I be a tad candid here? While you raise an interesting point, that is something that we as mods are ethical enough to avoid. The reason why the mods are getting defensive is that you are questioning their ethics and, I really can`t blame them. We as moderators are extremely capable of giving an unbiased review of ANY product including the ones sold in the store. Will it affect our relationship w/ David if we give a negative review of a product? No. In fact, David, of all people, understands that we are all not going to have the same experiences with different products used because we all are aware that results vary with surface prep and initial vehicle condition.

I`m not a mod nor will I pretend to know what the mods` relationship with David is. But let me just say this in their defense simply because it seems to make sense to me:

I have a great deal of respect for this organization in its ability to usually stay civil with regard to discussions about product reviews, tips and advice, etc. However what I`m seeing right now is indeed, as bj put it, "a pie throwing contest." To that end, I see this as simply an argument based in difference of opinion, which is slowly getting out of hand.

There are some members who have posted in this thread who are using the "mod" card to push their opinion. I`m sorry, but your opinion is no better or worse than that of any other member or of any mod on this board. And as such it is unfair of those members to be accusing the mods (and not just unfair to the mods, but unfair to everyone on this board) of unfair practices, just to get their own gains. This separates the mods from the rest of us, making them less a part of the community, and more of just a police force with no say in discussing that which is the topic of this board.

So please I ask you, the members, to stop bashing the mods just because they`re mods (we`re not anarchists against any semblance of order or authority, mind you) and to the mods, please when you see a situation like this where you are being bashed, just use your authority to close a thread, or give temporary bans (1 week for example) to those offending members. By continuing an argument like this, all we are doing is prolonging a problem and creating a more disgruntled neighborhood for discussing an artform.

So to one and all, "Its just a stupid wax!! Get over it!!"

I am not going to go back & forth on this, but what I do want to say is this.

I want people who read this thread to understand that I have not tried any of David`s products and in no way am I saying that they are bad. I spoke what was on my mind and it blew up.

So I don`t want this thread to have any judgement on his products.

But they advice i can give you is this: we all have different opinions some good, soom bad. The only way you will see if you like the product is to try it yourself.

Now if only you said this at first... Excellent advice, NYD. To all newbies... if you aren`t on a budget, find out firsthand what products you like. You learn much more by discovering things yourself than copying people.

    Brian, have a great Easter!
