What did I do wrong with Edge pad?

I haven`t tried the new Edge Pads but I don`t like the old ones at all. They are too soft and fragile, and yes, the same exact thing happened to me with a yellow pad. Half of it tore right off the velcro when I cranked my PC up to 6 and it wasn`t even an old pad. Now I hear their having problems with the new system. What happened to all supposed rigorous field testing that these pads go through?
