Review of GTechniq Crystal Lacquer + Liquid Crystal Kit

A month of so back I was the winner of the GTechnig Kit in the forum giveaway. It tok me awhile to get a chance to actually use the product but I finally got around to it and here is my review so far. The following is from the Autopia Car Care Web-Site:
GTechniq Crystal Lacquer + Liquid Crystal Kit - 30/100 ml.
    When extreme gets better!
    Long lasting protection, squared
    High UV and chemical resistance
    Stain resistant and self-cleaning

The Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer + Liquid Crystal Kit is extreme protection, squared. Two easy-to-use products make it simple. C1 Crystal Lacquer provides a long-lasting surface coating that results in high levels of scratch resistance, high levels of water beading, lotus plant like self-cleaning, and extreme durability that lasts up to 10 times longer than dealer applied sealants. Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal is an easy-to-use spray sealant that replenishes the surface with a quartz sealant that increases water beading action and bathes the paint in UV protection. The result is the incredible performance of Gtechniq, squared.

The Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer + Liquid Crystal Kit includes:

Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer, 30 ml.
Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer takes your paint to a whole new level of gloss and protection. This is because, unlike paint sealants and carnauba waxes, Gtechniq C1 Crystal Seal is a nano-active coating that forms a true covalent bond with your paint work. It will last up to 10 times longer than deal applied sealants.

    Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal, 100ml.
Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal is based on the same surface technology as Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer. This easy-to-use spray coating takes your paint to a whole new level of gloss and protection. is a nano-active coating spray that forms a true covalent bond with your paint work. Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal actually swaps some of its molecular structure with the surface molecules of your vehicle`s paintwork. The result is a high level of scratch resistance, intense water beading, lotus plant like self-cleaning, and extreme durability. Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal is a spray formula that will last up to 8 months!

Let Gtechniq`s amazing products take your paint protection to a whole level with the Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer plus Liquid Crystal Kit.

I have looked and read about coating in the past, but this was my first experience with using any of them. I was hesitant to use one due to I guess the unknown and afraid of messing up the paint on a vehicle. I have a part-time detail shop as a second job, waiting retirement so I can make it a much more full-time shop. I decided to try the coating on my Ford F-150 King Ranch, so if I messed something up it would be my own instead of a customer. I read all about the product and watched several videos before deciding to give it a try. I have used a wide variety of different waxes and sealants in the past and now normally use Menzerna Sealant and top it with Poorboys Nattys, Collinite 845, or Blackfire Midnight Sun. I will almost always use some type of polish and clay the vehicle before I use any type of wax. My F-150 had a great coat of wax on it already thanks to a sample sent to me by Obi Dan Karnubi, the maker of Chocwork Orange wax by DODO Juice. The process I used was to wash the truck and since the paint was in great shape I decided not to clay it again. I used Poorboys Pro Polish 2 and following that with DP Coating Prep Polish. I then took out the cotton type applicator and followed the directions on the bottle. After the application area of a panel at a time I used a soft microfiber to polish off any high spots. After completing the entire vehicle inside my detail shop for several days, while on a vacation. When I returned the vehcile’s paint looked amazing, but did not seem as slick as I figured it would be. I decided to apply a coat of the Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal. The paint became as slick as glass. It looked amazing and felt amazing. My vehicle is not garage kept in any way and is sitting outside right now getting snowed on. The weather where I live is not extremely hot in the summer, but I’ve taken it on several trips to Santee Cooper, South Carolina on fishing trips where the temps area a lot warmer. Here are my thoughts and observations so far. The coating has been on for about a month and a half now. Washing the vehicle is effortless now. The dirt really comes right off with very little rubbing at all. Mostly just a water hose. Every time I’ve washed it when I get done it looks freshly coated again. I tried several spay on Sealants in the past, but this coating thing is really the way to go. Waxes and sealants normally last a couple of months on my vehicles so I will give another review of the longevity as time goes on. As far as the application goes it took almost ¾ of the bottle to cover the truck. As far as the Gtechniq C2v3 Liquid Crystal Spay a little goes a long ways so I have plenty left. I’m not going to use anymore because I want to see how long the Gtechniq C1 Crystal Lacquer will last. SO far I am very impressed with it. In fact impress enough to buy another bottle for a customer’s car and will be applying it really soon. I have a bottle of the Pinnacle Black Label Coating that I’m going to apply to my daughter’s car really soon to compare the two. So far I have nothing but praise for the Gtechniq products. The application was simple and so for it is working better than I ever thought it would.

Very cool. Great review. I had C1 + Silo Seal on my bike for awhile and it always stayed clean. I think you`ll like it even more in a few months.

I noticed the same thing with the cquartz UK I applied to my car. Wasn`t very slick until I hit it with the reload. Then super slick! I think that`s just how some coatings are.

Thanks for the review. I`ve been wanting to try Gtechniqs coatings someday

Update on Gtechniq Crystal Lacquer + Liquid Crystal Kit

I applied the Gtechniq to my 2005 King Ranch on 11/01/2014. I have let my vehicle set outside and since there`s been a lot of salt and sand on the roads in my area this year I decided to not wash the truck for a couple of months and see how the Gtechniq really lasted. Today I washed the truck and to my surprise the truck came really clean with just soap and water and very little scrubbing. After washing I dried the vehicle and applied another coat of Liquid Crystal. The truck looks just as good as the day I applied the coating. So far the Gtechniq has lasted about 4 months in pretty harsh conditions and is impressive. I`ll post another update in another couple of months.
