REVIEW! Griots Garage 5 inch Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Polisher

The Griot’s Garage 5 Inch Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Polisher is the solution to an issue that has been annoying car care enthusiasts for years, the power cord! Dual action polishers have been around for decades, and so have their power cords, until now! The Griot’s Garage 5 Inch Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Polisher is the first and only wireless, battery-powered car polisher.

It is easy enough to use even with one hand! (If you have small hands then I would recommend using two)

The power button is in reaching distance from your finger, so its easy to turn on and off.

The polisher accommodates 5.5 inch pads. It`s the perfect machine to wax your vehicle, either at a car show or on the go.

The Griots Garage 5 inch Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Polisher lasts for about 45 minutes. I waxed a 2014 GMC Sierra with the polisher and it held a steady speed for the whole application. The wax I used was Pinnacle Liquid Souveran Car Wax, a thin even layer was applied and was extremely easy to wipe off.

Re: NEW! Griots Garage 5 inch Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Polisher REVIEW!

I`d rather break out my chords, and buy a new DA before ever getting this, heck the Meguiars DAPS is better.

NICE review though Jesse, just seems a tad overpriced on their end.

Looks like a good choice for someone that goes to a lot of car shows, lives in an apartment type complex, or just has extra $ to throw around. Thanks for the review.

I had extra money in my coffer account. I got the kit which has a bag, extra pad and battery.

I used it to when applying Optimum GPS with a polishing micro-fiber pad to wife`s CTS. Paint had some small scratches and it did take them out but extra battery came in helpful. I marked my pad with marker to make sure it was turning a lesson I learned here

I have the 6" & 3" Griots also but like a kid in the candy store I wanted one

Just another item I added to my collection of waxes, polishes, spray wax-detailers and other items.

Glen I understand better than most. An extra battery makes great sense.

I remember Griot`s garage having a package SKU that included bag/extra battery for 20-30 dollars extra. I can`t find it on their site any more?

    Lithium-Ion Random Orbital Kit - Griot`s Garage
this one seems way more expensive than what i remember.

Does anyone have a pic from past mail catalog?

    edit:
    Found it..
Where did the $269 option go?

Jesse, you claim 45 minutes of battery life, Griot`s description says 14 minutes. You said you polished an entire Yukon, so I`m guessing it had to be more than 14 minutes. That`s just a big discrepancy from the manufacture`s claim. Which are usually exaggerated in their favor lol.

Doesn`t look strong enough to do correction work.

It`s not, but it would be awesome sauce for use with a clay disc, polish with 1 hand and have the other free to spray the QD/lube. Using a clay disc on my Boss G15 was a real PITA.

Anyone know who makes this for Griots? Maybe the Chinese company released it under their own name for much cheaper. This would be perfect for $99 with 1 battery.

I think he was applying / spreading wax not doing a correction. Less pressure equals longer run time.

I’ve had mine for maybe 6 yrs now. I took it with me on the road when I went on two week business trips. On the weekend, I’d detail my vehicle. It’s a great spreader. Yes, you need the two batteries. I feel mine have lost a little run time over the years but it’s still my go to machine. The Flex & Porter Cable rarely see the light of day.
If I was “spreading” fast I could do a minivan on a battery. I doddle a touch and need both now.
