Keep your surface coating in peak condition with the Black Label Diamond Coating Maintenance Kit. This kit also includes the luxurious Aussie Merino Wool Wash Mitt, soft applicators and plush microfiber towels. It is the Pinnacle of coating maintenance."
Caught a nice day over the weekend and even though it has froze and rain since then in the past few days I wanted to share my brief experience with this maintenance kit.
Vehicle: 2006 Nissan Frontier Daily Driver/Work Truck Coated with black label paint, glass, wheel coating (12/2/13)
2bucket method with grit guard in both buckets. I used about 2.5 gallons of water in the wash bucket and three squirts of the black label shampoo.
Man this stuff suds like crazy! When combined with the included Koala Wash mitt this really made washing the truck enjoyable (as I normally do rinseless).
I used 2.5 gallons or so because I figured I would have to add a little more water during the wash to keep the suds up (which would not have been the case if most of them were not just blowing out of the bucket due to the gusting wind because the bucket had so much suds overflowing).
dirty shots: vehicle had not been washed for three weeks. we had two freezes and several wet days in between that time.
Black Label Shampoo: this stuff is pretty awesome. it has been said before how this shampoo rinses easily and i would have to agree 100%. i was able to run pretty much all of the water off the paint before even trying to use a ww towel.
I was also impressed at how it left the coating looking. It really did bring back alot of that original wow factor---now granted just using ONR on the coated paint brings back the wow factor too,,but I could definitely tell that this stuff was made to work with the coating. It gave it more of the glassy shine.
Black Label Diamond Coating Booster: Due to the wind and inability to park the truck in my garage, I only used the coating booster on the hood and the passenger side. I first tried just spraying the coating booster on the paint and spreading with the gold mf towel included in the kit but I ended up using the lc coating applicator to spread the product across the paint and a two mf towel combo to buff it out. This seemed to save alot of product.
After applying the coating booster I ran my fingers across the recently boosted hood and (normally coated) driver side and the slickness difference was noticeable. The booster really brought out more of the clear reflections from the paint and enhanced the look of the metallic in person.
Black Label Diamond Coating Detailer: I used the coating detailer on the hood one day after I initially washed and applied the booster because it rained overnight and I wanted to see how it worked with the light dirt spots that were left from the rain drying. I found this detailer to work quite well and left a very nice finish. It didn`t leave that oily finish like I was getting when using Pinnacle Rinseless Wash diluted to QD strength. plus the detailer on top of the coating booster applied the previous day made for one very slick surface!
Overall observations:
with regard to the bottles and sprayers: these things are pretty small but not sample size small. the 8 oz containers still fit pretty well inside your hand. I do have the constant fear of dropping them (which is always present with any product, but these are more expensive so its even worse). I did not really have any issues with the sprayers on the QD and booster but I`m not sure how I am going to feel about the open/close push tab in the middle of the sprayer head base. I think I would be more comfortable handling these if they had a larger bottle size (even if it was shorter). but thats my opinion.
The sprayers functioned very well. They both produce nice mists that you can either spread across with an applicator or mf towel.
I think I probably applied the coating booster quite liberally on the hood because i had to end up using two different mf towels for the final buff (i guess there`s a little `wax waster` in me too)
In conclusion, I am very satisfied with my purchase and I feel that my need to wax on top of the coating has now been diminished thanks to these new products that seem to fit the bill for what I was looking for.
Questions left over:
1)how does this stuff work with `other` coatings?? I guess I will never personally know but I am sure someone will test this out soon enough.
2)the coating booster says it can be used as a stand alone good for up to 6 months- that would be interesting to try out (and would it last longer if coating prep was applied before?)
3) when are they going to come out with a diamond coating rinseless wash? haha
