    Question Permanent Coatings?

What manufactures are offering Permanent Coatings these days, and whose do you think is best?

I have a potential fleet deal coming up and am trying to get my ducks in a row. Your imput will be greatly appreciated

Opticoat is the only one readily available to consumers (at least which I am familiar with). If you are really doing a lot of vehicles, say 100+, there are other bulk options which would be more economical.

Opti-Coat for sure. CQuartz is also an option, but for fleet vehicles OC 2.0 is the way to go.

    Re: Permanent Coatings?

From what I`ve heard CQuartz is permanent-ish, I haven`t seen much clear on the longevity but I think that`s due to it not having enough testing. Either way it should last a significant amount of time.

I don`t think Permanent Coatings have reached their full potential. If it wasn`t for this individual contacting me, I wouldn`t even be offering it. I am old school a.k.a. wax your car twice a month!

OG/OC is the only "permenent" coating that I personally know of, no matter what any other vendor or company says.

    Re: Permanent Coatings?

I dont think any coating is permanant. I have seen Optic Coat Pro 2.0 in person and after 3 months it did not impress me or the owner after doing a water test. As a detailer why would they want a Permanent coating put on anyways? If the owner thinks they have their car Permanent coated they would be lazy and think they dont need to have that car detailed again, which means that or those cars are not coming back which is lost revenue for the detailer over the long haul. I think the coating`s with some ceramic hardness to upto 18-24 months that been be proven is the best bet since those cars should be on sometype of maintance program to maintain that time frame of protection.

If you prep the paint correctly, OC is permanent.
Just saw your other thread on OC failing. Since you didn`t do the job, you don`t know how it was preped before OC...or even if OC was used. I will say it again, that it was not preped properly.

No one can prove OC or any coating is perament...it has not been out long enough. Even the maker of OC says its not permanent....he says its good for about 2-5 years at best with the best care.

Why does OC give 5 year warrantees if it only lasted 2 years?

This is from Scottwax on Autopia.org who I highly respect as a detailer. As you can see by his join date (2001) is a long time on one forum. Any coating that will last 5+ years I would consider permanent.
