    Review: Detailer’s Pro Quick Wax

    Review: Detailer’s Pro Quick Wax

    Introduction:

After the pleasant experience with Blackfire Wet Diamond Spray Wax, the new DP aerosols seemed like a natural. I had really high hopes for DP Quick Wax because the Blackfire was just that good.

My neighbor kindly volunteered his 2002 Mini Cooper to be the test bed. (He`s a plumber and we traded services.) Unlike with the DP Trim Detailer, it wasn`t quite so perfect of a test vehicle. Silver and missing some paint but we work with what we have. For completeness, wheels were cleaned with Griot`s Garage Heavy Duty Wheel Cleaner & various brushes + sponge. Tires with Zep Citrus Degreaser (4:1) and Tuff Shine brush. Trim was scrubbed with OPC and dressed with Detailer`s Pro Trim Dressing. Tires dressed with Surf City Garage Beyond Black (in keeping with the aerosol theme -- he wanted high gloss).

Thanks to Corey again for providing the format.

    Product Claims:

From Autopia Car Care site - Detailer’s Quick Wax

"The quickest way to wax your car!

Can be used as a stand-alone wax.
    Produces a high-gloss, reflective finish.
Beads water like a high-grade carnauba wax.

Detailer’s Quick Wax is a quick, easy way to provide a durable, high-gloss wax finish to your vehicle’s finish. Busy schedules and inconsistent weather doesn’t always allow us to break out the buffer and wax our cars the way we’d like, but with Detailer’s Quick Wax, you can wax your entire car in minutes! Detailer’s Quick Wax can be used as a stand-alone wax or as a topper for Detailer’s Max Wax or Detailer’s Poli-Coat Paint Sealant.

Not only does Detailer’s Quick Wax provide a quick way to wax your vehicle, it’s also easy to use and requires no buffing. And because Detailer’s Quick Wax doesn’t need to dry to a haze before removal, you don’t have to deal with powder or dusting. Detailer’s Quick Wax is the fastest means of waxing your vehicle!

Application of Detailer’s Quick Wax is as simple as spraying on and wiping off. Detailer’s Quick Wax should be applied to surfaces that are clean and out of direct sunlight. If the surface has light dust or dirt, use Detailer’s Quick Detailer to provide a clean slate for Detailer’s Quick Wax.

Give your vehicle a showroom shine in half the time with Detailer’s Quick Wax!"

    Details:

    1.- Packaging: Aerosol can
    2.- Directions: Clearly labeled
    3.- Viscosity: Rather thick
    4.- Color: Opaque off-white
    5.- Scent: Sweet and fruity
    6.- Price at time of review: 16oz = $ 14.99
    7.- Manufacturer: DP
    9.- Made in: USA

    Other Products Used:

    16x16 MF

    Preparation:

Foamed and 2 bucket washed with CG Citrus Wash & Clear. Dried with WW MF. Clayed with clay substitute sponge & ONR (clay lube dilution). The paint (except for the black roof) was swirl free so decided to use Megs D151 with Flex 3401 + LC CCS Green & PCXP + 4" LC Flat Orange on the small areas just to clean it up a bit.

    Application:

Having learned from BF Wet Diamond Spray Wax, I applied very sparingly to surface. I used very short bursts and spread with MF. Wiped off immediately.

    Pros:

    1.- Easy to control
    2.- Very fast application
3.- Left very high gloss finish
    4.- Nice smell

    ???:

1.- Durability. I don`t know but will monitor.

    Cons:

    1.- None I`ve found.

Does it meet its claims? Yes.

    Final Observations and Summary:

On the Mini in the sun, you almost couldn`t look at the car - the gloss was that intense. Here are some pics:

"How does it compare with Blackfire Wet Diamond Spray Wax?" I hear you asking. Its application is faster because you don`t wait for it to haze. It smells better. It dusts less. It is even a buck less expensive. But I like the look of BF a little better. Don`t get me wrong, it looks great, too, but I like BF better. Could be the difference in the base colors of the cars (my Harbor Gray Sonata v. Pure Silver Mini) or the underlying sealants (BF WDAFPP v. Megs D151) but it was dripping wet v. pure gloss. Chalk it up to aesthetics. YMMV with color and preference.

    "Is it worth buying?" Absolutely.

Comments and questions are encouraged. Thanks for viewing!

the mini turned out great. after hitting it with the megs D151, do you think the spray added that extra gloss or was it the megs ? i`m really surprised at how how well these new sprays are working.

Thanks Steve. DP Quick Wax definitely kicked up the gloss. It is a little hard to tell by the pics but you can see the camera struggling with the exposure (the outside pics take on a little weird colors and shadings). I was literally shading my eyes, pointing the camera in the direction of the car and hoping.

How many applications do you get from a can compared to the liquid spray?

Re: Review: Detailer’s Pro Quick Wax

I would guess quite a few. I found myself treating it like a more regular spray wax - lightly spray, spread and wipe. Seems to go a long way.

    Another great review.

How would you compare this to the BF offering? They seem similar.

    Mike,

Another awesome review complete with great photos and all the detail making it easy for members to decide for themselves...

I`m amazed how nice the finish looks! It`s so easy to use everyone should keep a can of this and a couple of microfiber towels in the car or truck just in case or simple to keep it looking good on the road!!

I can always count on your reviews!!
