Just got my Flex Kit. Thanks very much for helping me shake out the correct kit.

I have a quick Question:
The white pads are for _______?
The Yellow Pads are for _______?
The Mint Green Pads are for________?
The Black are for Applying the LSP correct?
The Orange are for the first pass on the aggressive polish?

I am wanting to make the car as perfect a possible with the material I have below. Car is black and has very slight imperfections in the sun. I want to perfect those and see how long I can keep that near show car finish.

Is this correct order to accompluish this on a DD:
M105 orange Pad (What Speed)
SSR 2.5 (What pad at what speed)
SSR1 (What Pad and what speed)
Do I need to use the UPGPrep before the LSP
LSP

Please let me know. I am hope to knock it out Sunday if the weather cooperates.

don`t quote me 100% because many others will have the real details but I thought I would get you in the right direction.
Personally I do all my polishing @ speed 5 . Sometimes for really aggressive spots I will go full to speed 6.

If you have the LC CCS pads, white is polishing. Not sure about the green (I think light polish). the orange are "cutting" pads. more aggressive than the white.

I want to perfect those and see how long I can keep that near show car finish.

Don`t we all. Good luck with that. Black daily driver??

In my opinion, I think the 2.5 after the 105 might be a bit redundant. I`d go with one or the other. And I`d also do a test area first with a less aggressive combo than what you`ve mentioned. 105 or 2.5 and an orange pad is pretty stout.

The Orange Light Cut....Speed 5-6. These are the heaviest cut we use other than wool.

The bag the pads came in should tell you what they are and what they are for.

Let`s keep things simple here. Try to keep your paint correction to one or two steps and don`t cross-contaminate your pads (one product per pad).

Try some test spots with the SSR1 and the white polishing pad (speed setting 5) first and see if that is enough. If not then step up to the SSR2.5 with the green pad (speed 5). If that isn`t doing it then use the M105 and the orange pad on speed 5. That`s your most aggressive combo. Make sure you are testing in a new area each time.

Examples-

Polishing Step 1 - SSR1/white polishing pad/speed 5
Finishing Step - LSP/black finishing pad (very thin coats)

Polishing Step 1 - SSR2.5/green polishing pad/speed 5
Polishing Step 2 - SSR1/white polishing pad/speed 5 (if necessary)
Finishing Step - LSP/black finishing pad/speed 4 to 5

Polishing Step 1 - M105/orange cutting pad/speed 5
Polishing Step 2 - SSR1/white polishing pad/speed 5 (if necessary)
Finishing Step - LSP/black finishing pad/speed 4 to 5

The M105 combo above is what I have been using on the majority of my details with great results and with less buffing time required.

I want to add something so not to confuse people about pad selection.

The examples I gave were in Jeff`s case so he doesn`t use different products with the same pad.

There is nothing wrong with using different pads with different polishes.

You can use the SSR2.5 with the orange pad or the Meguiar`s 105 with the white pad or whatever combination you like really.

The aggressiveness of the pad is going to be a factor in how aggressiveness the polish is. Their is no wrong combination. Just combos that are less aggressive and more aggressive.

Now using a finishing pad to polish or a polishing pad to finish isn`t always wise. However I just used a purple foamed wool pad, which is suppose to be more aggressive than the orange pad, to apply my LSP the other day and it worked great. So there can be exceptions once you get comfortable with paint polishing with a machine.

You could tape off three sections of the hood or trunk. Try a differ combo on each section then inspect, with a halogen light.

We have Four Star flat pads and Meguiar`s flat pads. Lake Country flat pads will probably be coming back to our store soon.

I use 6 on the FLEX quite often. 5 or lower offers better control and gives you better results in some cases too.

Both the green pads that LC offer are less aggressive than the orange one.

Troy, How aggressive is the PFW compared to say LC orange foam? and what polishes have worked well with PFW?

According to their chart the PFW pad is more aggressive than the orange pad.

I have found it to be the other way around when I use them. The other day I was removing water spots on a new black Z06 and started with the PFW which did not get them all the way. I used an orange Kompressor pad on the other side and it got everything.

Thanks for all the info Troy. I tend to ask alot of questions.

I have used meg`s old red or burgandy pad foam pad. This pad is recommended for rotary only. It`s very aggressive, when used with a medium polish it leave descent amounts of haze. I would not recommend this pad with da, but I still used it in some cases.

However Meg`s new red foam pad, is recommended for both rotary and da.
Is this new red pad similar to the orange? or is it still a da haze pad?

Good question and one I can`t answer yet because I haven`t tried it.
