    PB SSS concentration

The instructions on PB SSS`s label says about 1 oz per 2 gallons or 2 oz for 5 gallons. I find the 1 oz per 2 gallons too much.

Does anyone else use a lower concentration like 1/2 oz per 2 gallons? From what I have experienced, this should be plenty but want to know what others use.

I have soft water so suds are not an issue with almost any soap.

I try and go by what the directions state, but i won;t tell you I sit there and measure it out. I "eyeball" what I think to be about 1.5 or 2 ounces of shampoo for 4 gallons of water. Compared to what you`re thinking, I am using it a little heavy.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.

Instructions are guidelines and can be adjusted to fit your needs ... I have heard from many people who use less and some with very hard water that use more

I never measure - LOL - I turn the bottle upside down and squeeze for what I think is enough. Anyway, a quart goes a long way and I wash 3 vehicles minimum every week (not during the winter).

Yesterday using it for the second time, I used 1.25 oz SSS and 3 gallons. This time I filled the bucket to 3 gallons and then added the soap (mixed it by hand). I did give it a shot of water with the hose to generate some suds but as I washed it (dunking the wool mitt in the bucket, etc) it created more than enough suds. I was more interested in making it easier to rinse.

Here in KC our water is so HARD that, even with car wash soaps that are known for high sudsing, in less than 5 minutes, the suds are completely gone, and I`m looking at a bucket of blue, pink, or gold water!

I guess I`ll give SSS a try and add it to the list of hard water victums!

In order to get really good suds, I have to use 3-4 oz per 2-1/2 gal. bucket!

    [let the rant begin...]
Let`s face it... I`m just TOO DANG CHEAP to do that!

I`ve used many, many brands of car washes... my fav being Z-7. But at 3 oz per bucket, it just gets too expensive. I`m using 3 times more than some of you are...

That`s why I use ONR or QEW so much... now worry about suds!

    [/rant off!]

(Water softener? No way! I`m the cheapest man alive!)

A whole house water softener is cost avoidance. we had hard water from a community well system.

We had some many issues with deposit builds it was affecting everything - constantly plugging heads, water spots on everything, etc. When you get out of the shower you do not feel like you had an chemical bath.

It was not cheap to put in (Kenetico brand) but the running cost (salt) is minimal since we are not big water users.

    Sounds like a plan!!!

We are HUGE water users... I have 4 sons. Three are still in college and living at home on weekends and all summer long.

Extra laundry, extra dishwashing, extra showers (at least 2 per day per kid!!!)...

Think I`ll wait til they graduate!!!

    Re: PB SSS concentration

I have a well and the water that comes from it is rather hard.
    I hate my well.
I also just eyeball it. I don`t have time to be measuring stuff.
