I don`t understand: how does a solvent "fill" or "hide"?

why is it bother you?
Everything that I have read about Menzerna have been that they are top quality products

I have never had any issues with Menzerna polishes however will admit I don`t know enough about the science to confirm or argue against the "swelling" paint issue. I just know I love the stuff and that thread doesn`t disturb me at all.

I don`t think there is any issue with Menzerna ... unless they come up with some evidence. As I said over there, Anthony said that paint doesn`t absorb anything, even water, which is pretty darn small, and now he`s saying the solvents in Menzerna swells up the paint?? I don`t think so. I could be wrong, which may be because I can`t grasp all of the theories about paint and solvents but from my understanding I can`t see how this could be possible. What I can see, is some excess polish residue `sticking` to the velley of the swirls making it appear that the swirls are removed until it evaporates or a good alcohol wipedown is done.

Thats some conclusion that guy has come up with. I find easier to beleive it might have a small amount of fillers(or he didn`t remove all the swirls) rather then that wacky conclusion that it has solvents that swell the paint.

Oddly enough I used Menz Intensive polish and finishing polish today on cat scratches that I`ve not been able to remove since 2004. Due to my cautionary approach it took several passes with orange pads (Cyclo, after failure with a PC) to remove them. I should have gone to yellow pads but I did not.
With extreme scrutiny the kitty marks were inspected after every pass. The product did work without question although it took much more work than I expected, again I should have gone to the yellow pads initially.
In short I DO NOT believe there are fillers at work here.....far too much work involved to bring the scratches to 95% removal. A filler would have done it in short order.......my take.
I am not trying to take sides in this discussion. I am not trying to start a flame war. I am probably going to step on some toes. Maybe even upset some folks. I apologize in advance for this. If the mods or Troy would like to delete my post, I understand.
I have never used this line of polish, so I have no opinions either way about the characteristics, but I do not understand the usefulness of re-posting something from another forum that you did not originally post??? Especially, if you don`t agree with it. Again, I am not taking sides in this issue, I just don`t see the benefit of it I guess.
Just my 2 cents.
Troy, thanks for providing us with a place where we can agree to disagree and leave it at that.

I`m sure he posted it to hear the opinions of the members of DC .
Just to pass possible useful information on to people who may not frequent other boards. I`ve learned a lot of neat tricks and new forums by people posting stuff here at DC from other forums. I like to visit other places occasionally, but DC is my home. Anything that might be a good read is worthy of posting in my opinion.
I still don`t believe in grit guards.
Whenever I use Menzerna polishes, the paint finishes up squeaky clean - literally. Squirt a little water on the finish, draw your fingers across it, and your fingers will grab and squeak across the surface. Perfectly smooth, but no slickness.
I believe that means it isn`t leaving anything behind.
