Chrome and Aluminum are some of the most popular trim pieces on car yet are often ignored in the detailing process. Price:

    $16.99 for 8oz

    Review:

This review will be short and sweet.

Here`s the description and directions of this product:

Here are some before pictures of my exhaust tips.

As you can see, there are lots of exhaust soot and carbon build up on the surface. This makes the exhaust tips look dirty and ugly. It`s especially an eye sore on a perfectly detailed car. So what do you do? Grab the McKee’s 37 FAST Metal Polish.

Directions say to clean the surface you intend to polish. For this task, I elected to use the McKee’s 37 N-914 Rinseless Wash as a rinseless wash. I just gently wiped the surface and here are some pictures after doing one exhaust tip:

As you can see, it left some black carbon build up residue on the metal surface. Also, the metal surface looks a bit dull.

Time to use the McKee’s 37 FAST Metal Polish. Directions say to apply a quarter size amount of product to an applicator pad as shown:

Apply the polish on the metal surface and vigorously buff it:

Remove excess product using a microfiber towel and buff it off until there are no more polish residue left:

Here are some after shots of the right exhaust tip. I didn`t clean the left exhaust tip to show you the before and after:

And here are some final shots after cleaning and polishing both exhaust tips:

    Big difference!!!

    Thoughts and Observations:

This product`s consistency is medium. It`s not thin nor super thick.

It was very easy to spread and polish the surface. It felt like the polish had lots of lubrication. I think it has a good amount of cut as well because it cut through some carbon build up that N-914 couldn`t remove. I`m sorry but I don`t have any oxidized metal surfaces to test how strong the cut is.

There wasn`t a strong smell to it. I didn`t notice anything so it was good.

The product was very easy to buff off.

It left the metal looking brand spanking new. The metal surface after polishing was blindingly shiny.

    Conclusion:

This product works as advertised - it makes polishes metal surfaces to a high gloss FAST! It removes dirt and contamination from the metal surface with ease and creates a mirror like finish. Please consider this product when you want to purchase a metal polish. You will not be disappointed.

As always, thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed this review. Comments are appreciated.

Another detailed review from a detail oriented detailer. Do you have any pictures of chrome being brought back to life and shine?

Great looking tips Marc! I appreciate you allowing them to get so filthy for review purposes . I need to work in my tips, they really need a good deep cleaning.

    Thanks a lot Buster906!

I don`t have chrome wheels nor any oxidized metal unfortunately. I will update this thread if I encounter those situations.

    Thank you Angus!!!

The things we do for science, eh? Yeah these 35i engines produce so much soot and it accumulates quick. The tips get black very fast if you don`t keep up with it unfortunately.

Another great review Marc. I just did mine with another product and did not get nearly that good of a result. Looks like a winner.
Maybe I should swing by the SE valley and have you show me a live review! LOL

Re: Review: McKee’s 37 Fast Metal Polish

I compared this to the Mother`s Aluminum and Mag polish that I`ve used for years since I assume they are meant to do the same thing. This is my write up that I posted to the McKee`s and Autopia Facebook pages:

What are we looking at? The filthy exhaust tips of a 2014 Mercedes CLS. I don`t think these had ever been properly cleaned. I`ll post a video later but I wanted to compare McKee`s 37 Fast Metal Polish (FMP) vs my usual Mother`s Mag and Aluminum Polish (MAP). I cleaned both exhausts with APC, scrubbed, spritzed with water and cleaned it off. I used MAP on one side and FMP on the other. Neither got everything off, so I pulled out the foam ball on a drill applicator and used MAP over the results of applying FMP by hand. It got more off but not everything. Then I switched to FMP to see if it would remove any more. It did. Not everything but most of it.

    Original condition

After cleaning with APC and foam ball application of Mother`s only

After foam ball application of McKee`s: pulled off some stuff that Mother`s did not.

I subsequently figured out how to remove the exhaust tip...

After removal of tip, thorough cleaning with APC, application of McKee`s with foam ball and sealed with polywax.

Re: Review: McKee’s 37 Fast Metal Polish

I`ve got several metal polishing items and all of them have been let downs when trying to do something with the "chrome" around the windows of my BMW. I`ve used PBs, Mothers, Britemax, Pinnacle, and one other I can`t remember and nothing removes the staining on this trim. I`ve about given up and decided to live with it. Maybe I`ll give McKees a try. Exhaust tips are easy, this BMW trim is a nightmare. Thanks for another informative review!
