5 Coating Adhesion Test to CarPro Essence Review!

Yep that`s right, this is a review between CarPro Essence and 5 other different coatings. I have been patiently waiting to try out Essence for awhile now, and now I finally get the chance to do so while clearing up some other questions that everyone has been asking. Some of the questions being: "Will other, non-CarPro coatings adhere to Essence?" "Will the other coatings be easy to apply to Essence?" "How well does Essence do as a coating all by itself? How is the water beading on Essence, by itself?"

I decided to test these products on a 2013 VW Red paint. The paint was in "okay" condition, with some RIDS and minor water spots and swirls:

I applied CarPro Essence on the new Lake Country ThinPro white polishing pad with the Griot`s Garage G15. I noticed that Essence was somewhat of a thin liquid, not very thick and there was no grit in the product. Very similar to a finishing polish. It also had a light smell of a coating. Sort of smelled like CQuartz.

The polish spread out pretty thin, with no dusting, and it was easily removing the water spots and light swirls.

    After pictures:

I believe the Essence worked really good as a polish, it would correct a little bit better with a more aggressive pad, but I think it did a really good job. It left the paint very smooth, even, and clean on the surface, perfect for a coating.

    Coatings will now be revealed:

    BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating:

Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating Version 2:

    CarPro CQuartz:

    Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating:

    Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating:

    Applying the products:

All of the products were very easy to apply and wipe off. There was nothing that stuck out that was super difficult to wipe off/all of the coatings acted quite similar. The easiest coating to use would be the Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating. The coating with the slickest feeling was the Pinnacle Black Label Coating, but the rest were pretty slick as well.

    After Pictures:

No outside pictures yet, since it was somewhat nasty outside. I let the coatings cure for the rest of day in the garage (around 12 hours) and the owner took the car back home to his garage to let it cure overnight. Luckily the rain stopped just in time when he took it home, so the coating was not altered.

An update will come in about a week with water beading/durability on how the products adhere to CarPro Essence. I will show all 6 sections (the 5 Coatings and Essence)

    Products used:
    CarPro Essence
    BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating
Pinnacle Black Label Diamond Paint Coating Version 2
    CarPro CQuartz
    Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating
    Optimum Gloss-Coat Paint Coating
Lake Country ThinPro White Polishing Pad (Coming Soon)
    Griot`s Garage BOSS G15 Polisher
    Microfiber Towels

    One Week Water Beading Update!

    CarPro Essence:

    Optimum Gloss Coat:

    Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating:

    CarPro Cquartz:

Pinnacle Black Label Paint Coating Version 2:

    BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating:

This is a ONE WEEK update from when I first applied the coatings/Essence. This car has not been washed and has been driven around 400-500 miles this week.

    Thoughts:
The water was beading up quite nicely on all of the products. The product that I suspect that will lose water beading, in the near future, will be the CarPro Essence, since it was not a uniformed, tight, water beading. The best water beading, in my eyes, was the BLACKFIRE Crystal Coat Paint Coating. I also noticed that the BLACKFIRE had the darkest appearance as well. It also looked like all the coatings properly adhered to CarPro Essence. Time will tell to see if they stay adhered to Essence

In a couple weeks I will be able to give the car a quick wash and will review more of the water beading/looks of the coatings and Essence. I`m thinking of using CarPro Reset? What do you guys think?

Cool! And I`d bet that they will all play nicely with Essence.

Side by side, can you see any differences side by side?

I couldn`t see any major differences between the coatings, since they haven`t fully cured when the car left, but I will keep you updated!

Thanks for doing this. I think all the coatings will adhere to Essence. Just my opinion. Essence is the best product that was introduced at SEMA this year.

Just received some of this as a gift from a friend. You are in the process of answering the very questions I have. I am hoping to try this with Black Label. These two products working as advertised seems to be almost stupid-simple, that`s my kind of combination. Thanks in advance.

Though this wouldn`t suprise me I don`t expect to see it happen. Of course if it does we can always claim user error. Should this be the case Jesse will have saved me some time and tears.

I am of course yanking your chain on the user error thing, Jesse.

Awesome comparison. Seeing as I have PBL V2, BF Crystal coat and Wolfgang Uber Ceramic Coating I am looking forward to where this is going.
