CarPro HydroFoam - Stuff Seems Legit

This isn`t really a review, but I just had a chance to try my bottle of HydroFoam from CarPro. For those that doesn`t know, HF is a cleaner soap and LSP all in one product.

The dilution CarPro recommends is 1:9 - no matter if your using it in a sprayer, bucket, or "foaming lancer" - as CarPro calls it on the bottle. This doesn`t make a lot of sense to me, because if you mix it in the foam cannon @ 1:9, the concentration that hits the panel is significantly less, as this doesn`t account for the water diluting the solution added by the pressure washer. This makes me wonder if you can dilute it even more if you are using it in a sprayer.

Anyway, when I saw this stuff - I saw it as a God send if it works for wheels and coated plastics. Just clean and protect those surfaces with one step.. Usually I use Permanon, but that`s a second step after the surfaces are clean.

So, I used this stuff in a spray bottle mixing about 2 & 1/2 oz with 20oz of distilled water using a foaming sprayer. I thought it was odd the stuff has no real color. Dunno why - I always expect shampoos to have a color - it`s basically clear, so the mixture is clear. I used it on my wheels, and other plastic parts coated with DLux, like the wiper cowl and fog light surrounds.

Stuff seems legit. Sprays out foamy like any other shampoo. Cleaned my wheels, mud flaps, and trim as good as any other shampoo. The foam seems to be mid level as shampoos go, but remember - it`s mixed with an LSP.

The exciting part was rinsing it off and seeing the strong hydrophobics and crazy beading. The beading is legit - as good as Permanon. They say it lasts up to 3 months. I dunno. I usually only get 2 washes or so out of Permanon, but I kept using it just because it`s so easy. This stuff is even easier.

HF costs a lot, but even if only lasts 2 months - it`s prolly worth it, just because it`s saves a whole step. I didn`t noticing any streaking. I can see it being a huge time saver if your just going to use it as an LSP - which I may do.

If you have low dust brakes and clean your wheels with soap, I can`t see why you would use anything but his stuff. I think a 16oz bottle cost me around $20. But the ease of use makes it worth it.

Thanks for posting. I have seen some incredible water beading in videos with this product. Subscribed to see how long it lasts. I myself didn`t buy any yet, still waiting on some reviews. In fact, I have never used anything Carpro.

so lets say we power wash off a vehicle and its still wet. you just mix up some solution in a bottle, spray it on a panel, wash the panel, then rinse? 2 questions.
do you have to rinse immediately after washing the panel?
how much chemical do you estimate it would take to do a average size 4 door sedan: wheels, glass, body?

I`m one of those that have been waiting for the real reviews to be posted before buying. It sounds too good to be true, but you convinced me. I`m buying some of this on my next order. I just wonder what I will do with all my free time if this really works. Lol

Thanks for your thoughts Swanicyouth. I could see this being an amazing product for a basic wash and wax.

so I just picked up some of this along with the Kwazar foam sprayer I have been wanting.....
in theory I am thinking, basic wash/clay/wax procedure as follows - the thought of three steps in one is nice to me- time being money and all
1- pre rinse, bug/tar spray, etc
    2- Hyrdofoam
3- wash with Cobra Clay mit or similar
    4- rinse and dry
in theory this is going to be a great idea!
all I need is the cobra mitt (next sale prolly)
    any holes here?

Dunno if the clay mit would affect binding of the LSP in HF - but I doubt it. I STILL haven`t washed these wheels since the initial application - so I have no idea how it is doing. I will post my findings when I get around to it.

I just followed up on a car I HF`d about 2 months ago. This vehicles is abused and sits out 24/7. Car had no protection before HF, by 2 months visual indications were nearly gone, very poor beading and sheeting, but it was still present. Based on this, I`m going to say to use once per month until I get another car that is abused to check at the 1 month interval for beading and sheeting.

I have a neighbors veh set up to be a decent test car to test the longevity of this. I plan on mostly using it on my truck and veh as a maintenance wash to keep the coating freshened up..but definitely want to pursue this idea I have of a getting multiple steps done during the wash process.

id figure about a month of solid durability would be acceptable for how easy this is...but im not sure how much its gonna cost per veh until I start playing with it

If the intent is to replace a spray wax as part of a maintenance wash, yes, HF will be more expensive than something like OCW that will easily go a month.

I figure 3 oz in a full foam gun that will wash 2 vehicles (might get 3, but let`s be conservative). So, assume 1.5oz per vehicle for a cost of roughly $1.87 based on the 16oz bottle, just assume $2.00 with shipping. CG CW+G and OCW would cost about $0.50 per wash.

For the time savings, $1.50 seems worth it to me. Could probably squeeze in an extra vehicle or two in a day.

If you are using something like aquawax as a drying aid, then the time savings may be minimal, but effort is far less to blow dry the car after HF. And the water just flies off the car.

Re: CarPro HydroFoam - Stuff Seems Legit

I used HydroFoam today for the first time. It was easy to use and the results were very nice. I was undecided on the most cost effective/efficient way of applying this product. I ended up using a Kwazzar Foamer with the HydorFoam mixed at 1:8. I know that the instructions suggest a 1:9 mix but in truth this is basically what the Kwazzar would hold leaving a little room for pressure charge and I figured no harm no foul. No idea about it`s durability but liked what I`ve seen of it.
