Review: Britemax Spray & Shine Premium Detail Spray

I was one of the lucky winners in the recent Britemax giveaway. Frankly, I was underwhelmed when one of the bottles I received to review was a QD spray: Britemax Spray & Shine Premium Detail Spray ,but a deal`s a deal, so it was time to give it a ride.
I`m not much of a QD user, preferring mostly to use a waterless wash product when a rinseless or 2B wash is not necessary or convenient. Whichever vehicle I`m not driving is garaged, so when I switch rides, I`ll wipe down the garaged vehicle just to remove accumulated dust.
The subject vehicle for the test is my 1987 garage queen El Camino. It`s still wearing most of its original lacquer and had been prepped for show and cruise use back in June-July, having been gorged with Meguiar`s #7, polished and treated with BFWD topped with DP MaxWax. It`s a real acid test for any QD, as the aged paint has areas of checking and crazing and the porosity of the old lacquer is extremely sensitive to streaking, regardless of the wax/sealant it`s treated with. Many of the products that work fine on all the late-model family fleet just don`t agree with the old girl`s lacquer.
Temp was 70 degrees with 65% humidity with partially sunny skies this past Sunday morning.
The first thing noticeable about this QD was the sprayer. A premium, more substantial sprayer than you receive with many bottled products, it atomized the product well with minimal drips or runs on vertical panels. The scent of the product was a pleasant, slightly fruity smell.
My normal QD or WW process is first a straight lengthwise wipe along a panel, using a plush MF. After each pass, I roll the leading edge of the mf back to avoid rubbing any dirt back over the finish. After 3 or 4 passes, usually half of a panel, the now "zebra-striped" mf gets flipped or folded to expose a fresh face and a second mf does the final buff.
After doing a few panels with great results, I ran into a minor issue with my hood. Even though I only wiped half at a time before buffing, the hood was streaking. Possibly it was due to the high absorbency of the mf, a plush TRC Eagle Edgeless, or the fact that my hood`s paint is very aged and porous. A light fogging and a light buffing with my second mf took care of the streaks easily. I mention this since it was the only flaw in an otherwise pleasant QD process. The Britemax directions mention avoiding direct sunlight, which may limit its usefulness to those in hot sunny climates. Other that that hitch, this was probably the most rewarding QD`ing I`d ever used. The increase in "pop" was nothing short of amazing as was also the slickness. This stuff definitely kicked up the gloss "another notch", as Emeril says.

Typically, on the morning prior to a show, I`ll do a qd wipe, then a quick pass with a spray wax. With Britemax, only one step is needed to get the best results. This one`s definitely a keeper, so I can highly recommend giving it a try with your next order. If I haven`t put you to sleep yet, thanks for reading and thanks to the folks at Autopia for giving me the opportunity to test their new product line.

    Cool review, thanks.

Looks like it did a good job............

Had the engine been running before you did the hood?
Formerly the "Best Detailer", now just Super Wax Waster Man. Not necessarily tactful, but normally right. It`s good to be da King !!!

Nope, it had cooled down from the time I switched positions with my DD. As I mentioned, the paint on my hood is very finicky, so that plus a very absorbent mf was probably the cause of the streaks, as the sun wasn`t really bright. Next time under the same conditions, I`ll use something like my PMBA rolled edge or even a Meg`s Supreme Shine that is not so absorbent. I honestly can`t praise this stuff enough. I wasn`t very excited at first to open the Autopia box and pull out a bottle of QD, but it was an eye-opener. Without this giveaway, I likely would not have purchased it and I would have missed out on the best QD I`ve tried so far. We`re definitely going to carry a smaller bottle in my Camino`s detail bag for show prep.
I haven`t tried many "high buck" detailers, but this stuff just blows away the Meg`s, Optimum, Ultima, DG and Griot`s stuff I`ve been using.
