Poorboy’s World Wheel Sealant Review on New Wheels!

I just got new wheels and tires for my 1996 Honda Civic and I wanted to put something on the wheels to protect them. I haven`t really heard much about Poorboy’s World Wheel Sealant so I decided to give it a try since the Poorboy`s products are pretty easy to use.

I opened up the jar and the product wasn`t a hard wax texture but it was more a a thick gel. It spread out very thin, a little went a long way. It only took around a couple minutes for the sealant to start hazing:

Wiping off the Poorboy’s World Wheel Sealant was very easy. It was just one swipe and it was clear, there was no tough scrubbing needed, which is great! Also it added more depth and shine to the wheels!

The next day I took some water beading shots:

I drove down the road to dry off the wheel and all the water was gone with no water spots. I have been having a problem with water spots on these wheels since I have hard water at my house and the sprinklers always spray my car, so now I don`t have to worry about water spots on my wheels!

All in all this is a pretty good wheel sealant, I`ll just wait to see how long it will last, but I wouldn`t mind applying it every month since it`s really easy to apply. I`m also thinking about repainting my brake calipers, I`m not sure to either paint them red or black? If you guys could leave some feedback it will be helpful, thanks!!

Nice write-up Jesse. You`ll have to keep us updated on it`s long term durability.

Personally I prefer wheel coatings as I`ve found they hold up to the heat + wear & tear better then non-coating do.

Oh and I vote red for your brake calipers

I`ll try a wheel coating soon, I just wanted to test the waters and see what works good. I`m thinking about red as well with the calipers.

Re: Poorboy’s World Wheel Sealant Review on New Wheels!

Poorboy`s was the first wheel "sealant" I ever used back in 2008 and I wasn`t really impressed.

After a year or two, I switched to Rejex and the durability was much better. A few years ago, I switched to UPGP for the WOWA ability. I don`t think the durability was as good as the Rejex (maybe a hair less), but it was much easier to apply. This year, I switched to Sonax Polymer Net Shield and it`s the best of the bunch.

I`d like to try a true "coating" at some point but I`m concerned about the shelf life in that the product will expire before it`s all used up.

The other thing I didn`t like about the Poorboy`s was the sealant dried out, I don`t think the containers seal all that well. The O Ring gasket on my Midnight Sun should be standard equipment on every jar.
