    Leatherique Interior Detail

With the exterior all polished and coated, I decided to give my interior some love.

This little guy wanted to watch

I pulled out my trusty Autobahn Max Vac and got to work.

Overall, the interior is in great shape for a 14 year old car.

When I picked up the Sable after purchase, it had a dressing on the dash and door panels I wanted to remove. The dressing felt too slick for my taste, so I wanted to remove it and reapply a protectant.

I decided to use Pinnacle Leather & Vinyl Cleaner to remove the shiny dressing. I would follow up with PBL Leather & Vinyl Coating for protection.

I used an All Purpose MF Towel by hand with Pnnacle Leather & Vinyl Cleaner. A little elbow grease was all it needed.

    Much better.

    Mystery dressing removed.

Then I followed up with PBL Leather & Vinyl Coating.

The coating had a slight gloss to it, but not greasy or shiny like the mystery dressing.

Now to the main event - Leatherique.

Thanks to the lovely ladies in Kit Assembly, my kit was perfectly packed.

    Well written instructions included.

For the most part the leather looks good...

But it felt "stiff", I could tell the leather hasn`t been treated in some time.

The arm rest has signs of wear.

The drivers seat has some cracking, but a healthy application of Leatherique should prevent any new cracks for awhile.

The passenger seat wasn`t as bad.

And I think I was the first person to use the rear seats

    Re: Leatherique Interior Detail

After thoroughly reading the directions, I started with the Leatherique Rejuvenator Oil.

Applied as recommend - by hand. Yes the oil is safe on your hands and it`s actually recommended to be applied by hand. Leather is very "tactile", so by applying it by hand you`re able to feel which parts of the leather require additional oil.

    Rejuvenator oil applied.

This is how much I used for the first application. I would guess 3 out of the 8 ounces.

I came back outside about 3 hours later and this is how it looked.

You could tell the Rejuvenator Oil had soaked into the leather. The leather had completely absorbed the oil in some places.

Now it was time to use the Prestine Clean. I used it with the included MF towels.

I ended up using an old BLACKFIRE Crystal Seal sprayer on my bottle. It made dispensing the cleaner much much easier.

I was amazed how much dirt came off. The Rejuvenator Oil has a unique capillary action that forces essential proteins into the leather and dirt out. Once the dirt is on the surface, Prestine Clean removes it from the leather.

The Oil wasn`t as difficult to remove as I expected. The Prestine Clean made wiping off the Oil pretty easy.

    The leather was much softer.

Of course the Rejuvenator Oil didn`t remove ALL of the wrinkles, but by conditioning the leather I would prevent future wrinkles or tears.

The sun was going down on me, so I decided to wait and apply the second application of Rejuvenator Oil the next morning.

I moved the car out of the shade so the interior could get nice and warm for the oil to work its magic.

I applied the second coating THICK.

I used about 6 ounces of Oil on my second application.

Since I started early, I was able to let the Rejuvenator Oil dwell for 6 hours before I removed it.

By now, I know everyone`s sick of seeing pics of my seats but this stuff is amazing. Leatherique has a great reputation for a reason. This is one of those things were pictures don`t do it justice. The leather turned from hard to buttery soft after a single application, and it just got even better with a second application. It`s so easy to use, I even thought about applying a third application. My interior smells cleaner too. Overall I couldn`t be any happier with Leatherique.

This is how much Prestine Clean I had leftover. So the 8oz kit is plenty of Leatherique, even for a large interior.

    Finished shots.

Wow. I`ll have to try that someday. Do you clean the leather before applying the oil or do you just put the oil onto dirty leather and it is kinda like phase 1 of cleaning?

Ya you would think clean, then condition. But the rejuvenator oil actually gets into the pores of the leather and lifts the dirt to the surface. The longer the oil is allowed to dwell, the better. In my case the seats were pretty clean so I had no problem using the rejuvenator oil first, but if the seats were dirty I`d probably clean them first with a leather cleaner before starting the Leatherique process.

I use to have an 02 Sable in silver. I really liked that car a lot. Seeing yours in such wonderful condition is awesome. You don`t see them in decent condition these days. Most of them are beat to hell and back.

Hats off to you and your car sir!

Thanks It`s really growing on me. I like how inconspicuous it is. For once I`m not the guy who sets your car alarm off when I drive by. It`s nice lol.

Looks great and thank you for your review. You don`t need to apply a protectant after using this kit? How long will it protect the leather before reapplying?

Does this have any benefit to new leather?

You can apply a protectant afterwards to add UV protection. I was actually trying to pick one yesterday and I think I`ll go with PBL Leather and Vinyl Coating. The durability depends on a lot of variables like weather and usage, but regular maintenance is always easier.

It wouldn`t hurt. The only leather I would be careful using this on is uncoated natural finish leathers like King Ranch Leather. I would wait maybe 6 months before using it on new leather. It`s surprising how much dirt gets into the leather pores especially where your skin touches, and the rejuvenator oils brings that dirt to the surface for the Prestine Clean to remove. I used 10 MF towels in total so have plenty of interior MF towels on hand. In another 6 months, I`ll likely be using the rest of my bottles. At least the front two seats.

    Phenomenal review !!!

I love the Leatherique twins and first used them on my "clean" seats when my car was 6 years old. The results were simply amazing. One thing I did different was that I used a MF applicator to apply the Rejuvenator Oil and really "worked it in".
