    Pressure washer & Water tank

I am moving to a new condo & there is a water faucet about 50-60 ft away from the garage. My question is would I be able to store water in a water tank, connect an electric pressure washer to it & still get a good amount of water pressure out for my car washes? I`m trying to avoid running a long water hose which will run past other tenants entryway. I would hate to see someone trip over the hose & get hurt. Any suggestions or ideas greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

I think thats what most people actually use. You also use less water with a pressure washer.

Yes, it will be a gravity feed. My hose puts out 10 gallons/min. A power washer that gets 2-3 gallons/minute, will easily be supplied with enough water and therefore have enough pressure. What size water tank are you going to use?

Oh cool. Not sure what size tank to get & where would be a good place to get one from. I haven`t done any mobile detailing which is what I would like to do eventually. Most likely I will be doing no more than 3 cars at most per weekend. I also don`t want the tank to take up too much room since it will be stored in the garagemost of the time.

I think the best way to figure out what size you want is to do:

Minutes spent with powerwasher on each car X Cars you want to do with 1 tank X Gallons/minute on your power washer.

I think a 50 gallon tank would do you alright, but it really depends how fast you work with the pressure washer and how much water it supplies per minute.

The best place to get a tank would be locally. You`ll save a lot of money on shipping costs, plus you don`t have to wait and get to play with it that day! If near you, try farm supply stores.

What about using something like QEW?

Have you spoken with the condo association to see if they allow this?

Good point. My garage faces a public alley which is what made me think it would be ok. I will definitely need to find out. It`ll kill me if we can`t wash our cars there.

Been so busy trying to get the place together. The good news is "yes" we can wash our cars there. This really makes my day.

That`s good to hear. Just make sure you don`t spray any other cars in the lot. Did you get a tank yet?

I should be fine not spraying any other cars since they`re not right next me. Well besides my brothers car. No I haven`t bought a tank yet. I haven`t really looked since I`ve been tied up trying to get the condo ready. I`m thinking of getting like a 60 gallon tank. I don`t know of any agricultural stores around here where I can get one from. Do you happen to know if these tanks come with fittings for hose attachments? Not sure how that works.
