Review: DP Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner/DP Glass Restorer/DP Prep Polpish/DP Glass Coating

Well I finally had to use the following Detailer`s Pro products. This was my first time using any of these.

Detaier`s Pro Krystal Vision Glass Cleaner

I enjoyed using it. I used it with a few glass towels and it worked really well at removing the dirt and grime from the glass. I clayed all the exterior glass using a clay magic clay bar using the glass cleaner as clay lube. It did a good job of that as well letting the clay pick up the above surface contaminants. The glass cleaner left no streaks. Overall I really like it and it worked great.

Detailer`s Pro High Performance Glass Restorer

I keep the glass on my car in good shape. I didn`t have to use this but I wanted to give it a try so I did. Plus it would remove anything that was on the glass. I only used this on the front and rear glass. I used it with a 4" white Lake Country CCS pad on a PC 7424XP at speed 4. The polish is thinner than a typical paint polish. I could see the abrasives within the polish. A little goes a long way when using this. I worked it in until the polish started to flash. I buffed it off after that. I found out that in places that it is overworked it can be difficult to remove. In some area`s that this happened I just went over it with a spritz on a microfiber towel using the above mentioned glass cleaner and removed it. Also if it is overworked it will dust. Overall it worked really well for me and I didn`t have any issues using it.

    Detailer`s Pro Coating Prep Polish

I took the extra step and used this after using the glass restorer polish for the front and rear glass. I wanted the surface to be "surgically clean" prior to coating the glass. I used this by hand and applied it using a foam applicator. Overall using this was pretty straight forward to use. I applied it and worked it in a little and then buffed off the remaining residue. I only used this on the side glass prior to applying the glass coating. It will give me a good indication if I have to use the glass restorer polish next time if the coating wears out sooner.

    Detailer`s Pro Glass Coating

I sealed all the glass with the glass coating. I used a Lake Country Coating Applicator to apply it. I primed the applicator and then added 1-2 spritz`s on the glass and worked it in using a cross hatch pattern. I basically followed the directions on the bottle and used Todd Helme`s how to video as a reference guide. A little goes a long way for this. It does have a solvent type smell to it. I found it can be a little strong at times but nothing to keep me from using it. It does flash quick. I went over the area after letting it sit on the glass for the recommended amount of time stated on the bottle. It buffed off rather easy and any high spots were removed. I was intimidated at first as this was the first time I have used a coating but after getting over that I can honestly say that this is very user friendly. Now it doesn`t rain that much here in Southern California but when it does the glass will be ready. It should last me a long time and I will post up my thoughts on how long it lasts for me. It did leave the glass feeling very slick.

I even used the excess coating within the applicator and applied it the glass screen protector on my iphone . I put a little water on it to test it and I was impressed at out hydrophobic the coating is. The water sat there and was dry to the touch after I tilted the phone to have the water run off the screen. Very cool. I look forward to experience it on the glass of my car.

Here are a couple shots of the glass after I was done.

Quick update. I took these the day after. This is some clear glass. I have not had the opportunity to see how it handles rain since it`s been in the mid 70`s here in Southern California. But the wipers glide across the glass effortlessly removing some morning dew during the week. The glass cleans extremely easy with nothing sticking to the glass. So far I have been impressed with how easy it is to clean the glass.

Rain is in the forecast for Monday night, Thursday and Friday. I will post up a follow up after that.

Here are the photos from the day after cleaning and prepping the glass.

Fantastic results! That glass is crystal clear!

Even though it may not rain a whole lot there, the glass coating should help with removing bug guts and other debris hitting you windshield.

I forgot to post this the other day. Here is a beading shot during some rain on 2/22/15. The coating is doing it`s thing. Also attached a short video before I ran back in the house to avoid getting wet. It definitely shows how the water just slides down the glass.

Got some rain today. I have only washed the car with a soap that has no wax or used D114 rinseless wash to keep it clean.

This is 80 days after initial application. Still holding up in the Southern California heat and dry weather.

It`s still very hydrophobic. Check out the beading and the water just sheeting.

Here`s one while driving. The water starts flying off the glass at around 37 MPH as shown by the HUD.

Quick update. DP Glass coating holding strong at 353 days. 2015 was a very dry year here in Southern California. The glass has been clayed once when there was some paint overspray on it a few months ago and not touched up.

Still holding strong for the first El Nino storm.

Nice review, also I did not know that the older Grand Prix`s came with the HUD. I love HUD what a great feature.

Pontiac has been doing HUD for much longer than most people think. They really had a lot of cool features very early on. You should look up the 1989 Pontiac 6000 STE with AWD and digital dash, rear air suspension, ABS, and a few other cool things. Then look at the 90 ish GranPrix Turbo coupes.
