This year at SEMA, Red Kap had a display and one of the items was a slightly different style of work/shop pants. `I`ve been waiting since then for them to become available and now they are, so I bought some to try.

Up till now, I`ve been wearing the Dickies double knee pants with the phone pocket. `They`ve worked well, but the Red Kaps are, for me, better.

Red Kap put the knee patch a bit lower so when you do have to kneel the seam isn`t were you hit. `They have a utility pant type pocket on the left leg and a carpenter type side pocket on the right. `There are no exposed buttons or snaps, they`re made of a combination cotton and synthetics and they are roomy enough to be cool on hot days. `So, for those of you who wear long pants, I`d suggest giving these a try.

My work attire is, a golf shirt in a solid color, these pants, a buckleless belt, and water proof shoes, with a ball cap. `I try to dress like my clients might if they were working on their own cars, the idea is to look competent but not like everyone else. `

Yeah, David, I`m too old not to wear the big boy pants, and besides, I`ve been wearing the same size since I left high school and I`ve got pants older than a lot of the guys who read this forum. `I`ve got a couple of pairs from 1970 - dress blues I was issued by the USN - that still fit.

I also think long pants look a bit more professional.
